OT : but interesting...anyone know what the...

largest floating man made object in the world is?

It is the Supertanker Jahre Viking

It is 1500 ft long, has a draft of 76 ft and the beam is 226ft. It weighs 564,000 tons.
There aren't too many pictures that I could find but here is one.
I guess it was attacked by Iraqi jets in Desert storm and sunk in shallow water , they salvaged it and it is on the water now. I would pay money to actually see that in dry dock in person ,or take a tour of the engine room !
Just seeing the salvage operation would be awesome.

I'd love to take that puppy for a spin. Mabe a poker run or two? I don't think my 100Ton USCG license would work for it though

On occasion we see some of the big freighters that run on the great lakes. They don't get down here very often. When we were up in Sauk St. Marie, that's when we saw alot of them. It's kinda funny, but you lose proportion of the ship and it doesn't look all that big. Until you realize that the hydraulic ram holding the unloader is over 6' in diameter and the waves off the prop would justify a small craft advisary!

BTW-back in the 70's the Fitzgerald (around 1,000'?) stuffed a wave on Superior (?) and went down with all hands.
