This is as good as it can get. I have been on pokerruns and sometimes you do a little drag race here or there, but my boat could be heavier do to gas, luggage, people etc. or just built that way as the owners request or could be paper thin because wanted to go fast... I believe the race is an equal playing field all the way..
In Destin (I think 06) OSS Worlds it was a fairly rough water race and in those conditions an Outerlimits V with 525s caught and passed alot of the catlite boats...only 2 or three finished ahead of it...the OL was not the fastest 525 boat on the course but on that day in those conditions it outperformed many of the cats

39 MTI 575sci's and XR's 120 MPH
42 Fountain 575sci's and XR's 88-90 MPH

42 Fountain 1350 Sterlings 126 MPH
42 MTI 1150 Sterlings 156 MPH

All first hand comparisons. I think there is a pattern.

My wife wont ride in a 100+ MPH Fountain again after running 150 in an MTI.

TX Hawk, Must have been some older boats, I personally went and have video of me and three others in a 42 PR Fountain with 1075's GPS 140.4 so either your #'s are off, or much older boats?? Many 42 Pleasure versions running 120's with 850's??

Again it would be nice to see a head to head comparison, but maybe that would take the fun out of discussion

850 39 MTI, 150 mph
1075 MTI, 160 mph
hot 1075, 170+ (same engines 42 pr had)

matt's examples of eddies boats are as real as it gets, they might not bet the fastest setups for either boats, but they were true pleasure boats, not strung out magazine or kilo boats...

Not at all.

They happen at almost every event, but it's literally so lopsided that it rarely gets discussed, much less planned. Even a good number of OL guys have switched to cats, because they are capable of, and handle big speeds much better.

If 2005 is older...

Does it matter if they are older boats if they were the same year model? I have seen your video. The 42 above was not a 42 PR.

I dont think it gets any better than the 39 Bravo MTI vs. 42 Bravo Fountain. I don't care what power you have in a bravo Fountain, its not going to run 120 MPH any day of the week.
