A 525 in a 22C???

Invest in a helmet and hydraulic steering!!!

I would be curious what that boat would do with that motor and your X up a couple of inches. Probably would think about K-planes as well.

Let us know how your time travel experiment goes and if that still isn't fast enough, I can direct you to someone who can get another 40hp/70lb torque out of that motor without screwing it up.

You are welcome! As Unsane says, be safe and equip your 22 footer for the speeds of more power!
When you can buy a complete low hour HP525 for under $20K, thats a smok'in good deal and you will be happy with the power and reliability of the HP525. Now just sell your 496 for some decent dollars and the next owner can afford to upgrade to 525HP with our Raylar kit. Everyone wins!

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

Mine won't be the first 525 22 Classic. I am looking for 85 mph with this motor. There are quite a few of these boats running mid 80s. I will install full hydraulic steering at the same time. No helmet, just lifelines. Mr. X has an Ilmor powered 22C running over 100 mph.

When you get ready to sell I would be interested in the CMIs.

Still waiting on the dyno results with stock exhaust vs CMI Etops....I remember the hype with the sport tubes that are at the tune of around 4500.00 a set. Pretty expensive stainless if you ask me...I'll be a player if these net any gains, but I'm with the rest 21hp is not worth 3k....Money better spent selling the 496's and investing in 525's that already come with CMI's

I'm going to be installing a set of sport tubes in the next week or 2. I'll prop shaft dyno before and after. That will give us a direct comparison to the Dana's.

One shop here on the west coast did a comparison on the dyno with before and after on a stock 496HO, understand they saw about 25HP gain which is about what I would expect to see from an e-top type header on a 496.
It will be interesting to get Bob's dyno numbers, his dyno's are really real world and I expect about the same result, time will tell.
