Trustworthy marine rebuilder / full service shop
I just bought a 1995 23' Wellcraft Nova Spyder around Atlanta, GA. It looks in pretty good shape, but has been sitting for a year or two.
The engine is said to be "knocking" and the interior pieces like the sun pad have disintegrated.
I'm looking for a shop that can go through the whole boat like the steering, Bravo outdrive, etc and see what needs to be serviced or repaired.
I'd also like to build the stock 502, or just replace it all together with a 540. I need something with 500+ hp with a 12 or 24 month warranty. Nothing wild, just good power and reliability.
I'm looking for a shop, hopefully in the southeast with a solid reputation for handling big blocks without price gouging.
Do you guys think I should have the engine built by Ateco and just hire another shop around Georgia to do the servicing and engine pull?
Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

I think you are going to find out that are you going to spend way more fixing the boat than its actually worth. Its only worth about 12-15k in good shape and you'll have 10k+ invested in just the engine.
