Marine Engines Over 2000 H.P.?

2000 hp will not live long. Get a turbine. Even 1500 hp engines are a lot of work and money to keep running. Also require race gas. Rod's 2000 hp engines had a lot issues.
I will say it again get a turbine. I do like the V16 Keith is working on. Two V8 900 hp NA engines coupled.

Ummm 1,500 Hp. turbo's are living very well !
Change the valve train every 250 hours.
Bottom end seems to always look beautiful...........
And be for you suggest it..........No turbo Lag either.
Boost comes on at 1,850 rpm's on the dyno.
I Know most people can't dyno this low, but I'm not talking smack either. Technology has come a long way if your in the right camp.

And be for you suggest it..........No turbo Lag either.

Tom Nelson @ Nelson Racing Engines can build you a turbo or blown setup in the 2000hp range....
Here is a link to a turboed setup that makes 2400-2500 on race and 1700-1800 on pump....
I think he has a 1 year warranty as well....
All his engines can be marinized and he has done plenty....

Great question. Here's what I suggest.
Listen closely to Kilo Kat and Brad Zastrow. They know from whence they speak. With 2,000 hp output, turbine engines are the only things that will even approach "reliability." It's not even arguable.
But if you really want it from the proverbial horse's mouth, call Mike D'Anaballe at Sterling. He'll tell you he can build a 2,000-hp engine. He'll also tell you, straight up, that it won't live very long.

That sounds awsome...! Are they a lot quieter than the supercharged stuff, or at that power level do they still scream pretty loud?
