New graphics on my Scarab, Before and after pix

I have a small at home vinyl graphic shop and I was having trouble designing new graphics for the boat because the black line down the middle was throwing me off. I was almost thinking of repainting the whole boat. After hearing so much about Ryan Beckley I decided to give him a try. That was the best thing I ever did. I told him I wanted something that would brighten up the whole boat and hide some of the black. He sent me over a few designs he made up and we went from there. After a few emails back and forth this is what he came up with. Its hard to tell from the photos but it's Teal, bright yellow and lustery purple. These colors all together have seemed to make the dark teal seem much brighter. It really stands out. The wife says it looks like an Easter egg. It tuned out better than I would of ever imagined. I feel like its a brand new boat in the driveway. Trust me these photos don't do justice.

Sorry the photos aren't the best but it was cloudy out and it's going to rain all week. I had to take them before I move to the next stage of the project.... that is re doing some of the interior. I am ripping it all out this weekend...... The fun never stops.

Here is the befor photos

After reciving the design fro Ryan Then the fun started. I had to do some minor tweeking to make it fit properly and cut the vinyl. Then I drove to Albany ( 2 hours north) to meat up with Shane and do the application in a verry well heated garage. It took us 8 hours of prepping and aplication, but It was worth every minute.

Its hard to tell in the photo but there is a purple inlay on each side of the yellow. I will have better photos in a few weeks.

Checkmate ....I will be up at LG every other weekend and the Hudson river during the week and alternating weekends. The motor is coming along. Were just waiting for the carb to get back so it can go on the dyno. I can realistically see the boat being finished by the end of May. maybe we can meet up there one day.

Advantage_Rob 03-21-2002 09:09 AM

Major improvement!! It looks like you just bought a new boat!!! Good job on the design and colors Ryan!! I have a friend that does graphics I've helped him do boats on occasion, and I cant belive what a pain they are to apply, I always thought it would be easy to put a sticker on a boat, it's a b*TCH!!!

zokman 03-21-2002 09:19 AM

Paul, beautiful transformation. At least someone has a good imagination. Must have been tough to settle on a final design.I too would like to buy a set of flag decals. Can you either contact me or post an address to send a check? Thanks. Tom

Ted Zoli 03-21-2002 09:24 AM

BAJA WILL 03-21-2002 01:16 PM

That looks sweeter than 95% of the new boats I see. If I had it to do over, I would have got a plain white hull and done vynal.:D

Awesome job, looks very professional. What a difference on how the attitude of the boat changed, congrats to you guys:D

Hot Boat 03-21-2002 11:08 PM

Thanks everyone I am glad you all like it as much as I do. :D

If any one wants to see some more of Ryan's work check out his website http://www.kineticanimation.com/

Today I ripped out all of the interior. in the photos its hard to tell but it is a light gray color. It looked okay before.... but with the new graphics it just looks out dated. I don't have enough money to redo the whole interior so I am going to use automotive vinyl interior dye to change the gray to white. I have used these dyes many times before in auto restoration and on parts of my last boat. It should cast me about a $100 in materials and I will have a new interior. I don't know how long it will last on a boat but I should get a few years out of it before I re do everything from scratch. As soon as this is done it is going to NJ to get the motor installed..... Its been a year and a half long project and I am almost finished. :D :D :D I cant wait.

If anyone is interested in a set of bow flags please let me know. They are $25 a set ( right and left) I have about 75 sets available and they are ready for shipping. They measure about 18" X 7" just drop me a email [email protected] or mail a check to
