91.1 GPS, 35 Fountain 525's, anyone faster ?
I have a stock 2004 35 fountain lighting w/ 525's, GPS 91.1.
The boat can get to and maintain 90 regardless of fuel and crew. I hit the rev-limit @ about 91..not solid ..just on and off. Anyone running faster with stock ? |
Triple D can do it....:party-smiley-004:
|
Welcome to the board!!!!!
|
RaggedRock states he can get to 94....both are damn fast!!!!
|
the new 35 fountains will hit 100mph with 525's. the 399 skater, 39 velocity, 41 outerlimits, all will run mid 90's-100mph with that power
|
..Reggie said it did 105 but in an older issue of PB mag I read this weekend 101.4 is what they achieved.
|
Our Gladiator ran a best of 92.9 on gps with stock 525's. Would always run 90+. I would also consider this hull not that efficient. There's quite a few boats out there that will run better with 525's.
|
found the article..May of 08 PB mag..101.1 but it was set up for top speed and took 20 sec. to hit 50 mph..that's terrible and even the mag said it would better suited with a diff. set up. Also it had diffusers and Hering props.
|
I have ran 90.7 mph with 500 efi,s in my Gladiator. Does that count for anything ??

RHC Im just quoting what I read in PB mag...Personally a set up like this sucks..My boat is set up for all around..I like being able to get up on plane quickly and have a decent pull in the mid-range..Im at top end maybe once a year... |
I agree Jeff, our 38 will roll over at 1800rpm and be on plane , from there on it will pull as hard as I push the sticks but most of the time it's at 35-4000 rpm ; :eek:thats pretty fast in a fountain you know !!:evilb:

Strictly Business will run 110 with 525s with a race setup. More in Kilo trim

The Biotch did run 94 GPS last spring with the 30" 5 blade Precisions from Brett @ BBlades. Runs 90-91 on non-lab Bravos in a good chop. Would be glad to share the info with you, let me know. What are you running for props on yours? |

RHC I don't think that's the case. My test sheet says 90 with 4b Bravos and that's what it runs with those props. On the website he claims 100+ on the newer 35's with the staggered set up, from what I see most do just that. Some may be a little quicker, some may fall a little short. The test sheets that I've seen on staggered 35's were right there, even a tick over. No two "identical" boats are going to run the exact same speed. Build weight difference, Merc's HP variation of as much as 10%, and we all know any two sets of props can be a few MPH off, let alone conditions. I think they put a pretty fair number on the boats and if you match their test settings you should be able to run pretty much the same number. I just don't understand all the BS about all the outrageous speed claims, just not there. |

There's a newer 35 with staggered 525 around here. I'm not sure if the owner is on here or not. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance. Nevermind I forgot that i can't post pictures.

You're doing pretty good with those n/a engines. My friend has a 1998 35 with twin 600S/C's[ blowershop blowers] and we did best at 96 [ verified by the chopper above us] , 34P Bravo1's , 4 peeps and 3/4 fuel. http://www3.telus.net/spectrasonly/boatN_jpg.jpg http://www3.telus.net/spectrasonly/D...ge%20Vancouver |
that's an awesome picture, that were my boat I'd have a huge poster of it!!! Where was it taken?
|
I took the picture from my boat at the Lions Gate bridge in Vancouver BC .
Here's another shot of the same cruise ship leaving for Alaska . http://www3.telus.net/spectrasonly/C...%20to%20Alaska |
here's us going 96 at the 08 Harrison Lake poker run. The picture is edited from the Poker run video , hence the poor quality.
http://www3.telus.net/spectrasonly/3...0SC%2097%20mph The splash from the Skater can be seen in the front of us . He flew by like we were sitting still , lol. |

kickin photo..like that racing fairing...running all stock stuff ..32P..what do you know about turning the props direction inward ? a computer chip?
As you probably already know ,90% of the Fountains run their props inward. I run my props inward on my Mirage and it helped getting rid of the chinewalk considerably and picked up around 2 mph .With the props turning out was a dream for handling around the docks with shifters only.Turning inward I now have to use the throttles slightly. No biggie. Don't know if the 525's ECM can be reflashed or not ,but I would stay with the stock tune , unless you always fill up on land where high octane is available at Chevron. I have a superchip tuner for my Mustang and I found no benefit when I tuned the car for 91+. The engine was built for 87 [ fast burn ] and it runs just as great as when I tuned for 91.Just my 0.02 . Ps; my boat used to chinewalk pretty bad running on the delta pad only, turning the props inward allowed the stern to sink a tad ,so the chines can stabilize the hull better without using too much tab. Here's short clip showing a rock solid ride with the props turning in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_axHfmDBw8 |
