Tan-Tara Boat Show
Lutz and I are thinking of taking the kids down to the lake this year for Easter. Always wanted to do the Boat Show at TanTara and it looks like we'll be able to get away this year for it. Is anyone else going? Funhome, I think you said you were going; anybody else?
What are the exact dates the show runs, and if anyone else is going which day do you think you'll be attending? |
Usually it runs Friday to Sunday of Easter weekend. There is also a show at Shooter's. Tan Tara show is more of the crusiers and Shooters is more the gofasts.
I doubt we are going down for Easter this year, with Easter so early it is always a crap shoot with the weather. mike |
Now Mike, what do you mean about the weather? How cold is it supposed to be in NE this weekend?
Sorry. Just had to "rub it in" :p :D |
I hear ya on the weather. But I'm gettin antsy to get down to the lake and it looks like we can get away from the family festivities this year so I think we'll check it out. I didn't know that Shooter's had a show also. Does it run Thursday to Sunday as well?
PLEASE be nice weather!! :( Please, please, please! :) |
The Tan-Tar-A show is a good show to get out on the water and test some of the new stuff. Some dealers want advanced notice that you are interested in a demo, but others will take you out just to get your attention. The Shooters show is just as CATDRYVER sais lots of go fasts and cooool paint.
|
I'm going. Wild might be there too. I think it's March 29-31.
|
Steve ~ Do you know what day you'd be going? I think we'll probably hit the show on Saturday; weather permitting.
|
It'll be Saturday. I want to ride down Friday night and stop in at JB Hooks. I figure hit the shows Saturday and head home Sunday morning after eating a greasy breakfast somewhere.
|
the wife and i should be down for the show. we usually attend on saturday. i have been planning on splashing the boat that weekend sure hope the weather changes. the dates are 3/29, 3/30, 3/31. the Tan Tara show usually has lake dealers only raymonds, glencoe, lake port, kellys port with a few pontoon dealers thrown in. the shooters crowd usually is gruinger marine out of pontoon beach Il. , and GRC or what ever they call themself although they went out of business. my plans are to go to show by water as we have in years past but where going to have to watch the weather this year easter is a little early. perhaps a few of the oso member down that weekend can hook up. it sure would be nice to meet some of you.
|
I'll be down from Thurs. to Sun. It is a guys golf weekend, but I think most are leaving Sat. morning. I will probably go to the show on Sat. in the afternoon.
|
Miss Army,,
Have not talke to you before,,, but we will be there that weekend, in fact our place is right by shooters and sure will check it out also.. Tan Tar a has lot of neat stuff, along with the boats,, sure itll be a fun weekend. So keep begging for the sunshine |
Hi Miss Amy, Audiofn and me will be there Easter weekend to take delivery of my new Top Gun!!!!:D :D :D
We hope to hang out for a day or so before hauling back to Maine. Hopefully we and hook up with you and Lutzparty, Kurt. |
Biggus, so you bought it, huh. Congrats. That makes one less top gun at LOTO to look at. Hopefully the weather will be nice for ya. Try and make a run down to Tan-Tara-a so we can see the boat.
|
mpally, send over your email addy to me. I`ll send you some pics of the boat, I wonder if you know of this one, Kurt
[email protected] |
Biggus ~ That is so cool! We will HAVE to meet up for sure then. What time do you think would be good to meet on Saturday? Congrats on the boat. Can't wait to see it!
How 'bout the rest of you all? Let's throw out some times and a meeting place. We've never been so I hate to make suggestions. Some of you that have been before may have a better idea of where and when to meet. |
hey biggus, congrats on the new boat which TG did you purchase there have been a few for sale down here. i believe the boat show starts mid morning 10-11 i will have to get my boat in the am its in storage but early afternoon would work for a meet up just a thought.
|
Biggus ~ Have you heard from Audio lately? I haven't seen him around in quite a while. Hope everything's okay. If you talk to him, tell him to send me an e-mail or something.
Thanks! |
Easter really sneaked up on me this year!! I'm going to have to check with the "Power's at be" about us being able to go next weekend! But I will let everyone know!
Biggus, Congrat's on the Top Gun!! Post some pic's of it!! I'm sure everyone would love to see it!! Are you going to put it in the water? I bet you are, unless you have already test drove it. Just remember you will probably need to winterize it again afterwards since you are taking it so far north! Keep in mind that a lot of the marina's are on their winter hour's still and might be closed on sunday! You might want to make prior arrangments to get it winterized or at least drained ahead of time! |
Thanks for the well wishes everyone!:D
I`ll post pics as soon as I get it home. Miss Amy, Audiofn is in Ft Meyers, Fla. with my next door neighbor. He has a house on the water right off the main river there (I forget the name). He has a 30' Veloce with triple 225`s. I spoke with him last night, they are having a blast! The 'Gun is going in the water when I get there and I hope the weather is better than it was the last time I was there. I`d like to take a trip up the lake to the Tan Tara. I have never been on the water there. Is it difficult to navigate? Are there rocks and other stuff to watch out for???? Hope to meet some of you next weekend, Kurt. |
Thanks Kurt, I didn't know he was down in sunny Fla. That sucka! LOL
Kurt, here is our number down at the lake. We need to get together down there for sure. 573-374-7950. here at home is 913-599-5757. |
Biggus: The lake is easy to navigate, it is deep with out rocks etc to worry about. There are lots of coves, some deep and crooked, but you should have no trouble in the main channel.
Are you taking I-70 from Mid-MO through OH? If so, follow this advice. In St. Louis take I-370 to I-270 on the north side into Illoinis, where you hook back up to I-70. There is construction and narrow lanes on I-70 near Indiana, but you should have no troubles. At the wrong time of day there will be a backup, though. It would be cool to see your boat on the highway, but I don't know my schedule that week any better than I know yours. If you see a green suburban waving like crazy, wave back. Miss Amy: It's a fun show, and great start to the season. Have a blast. I doubt we make it this year due to moving/family commitments.:( |
Biggus you wont have a problem with the lake it goes by mile markers not that there visable or anything. but it starts at the dam ( bagnell dam ) that is, there are two dams bagnell dam mile marker 0 and warsaw dam mile marker 90, for the most part the lake is boatable from 0-60 beyound that not much there except fisherman. most of the hot spots are between the 4mm and the 31mm with 17-21mm the center of attention. tan tara is at the 26mm. what marina are you going to be putting in at. what color is your TG i'll look for you. were are you staying. i will try to help you out. if you need any information. if you have any problems or need to know anything give me a call. lake # 573-964-6570, st louis # 636-532-1985, and the cell# 314-974-0824. i'll be down sometime friday late afternoon eve. also when you get down there if your not sure of the lake you can buy a lake map most any place, gas stations, grocery stores wal-mart etc. fuel shouldnt be a problem most bigger marina will have their gas docks open this time of the year, although if your requiring real high octane you may have to hunt this time of year.
see ya later dave hughes |
Biggus, if you need any assistance feel free to contact me. My info is in my profile. Be sure to warn me if your bringing Audiofn!

Tan-Tar-A Show
Amy,
we had originally planned on doing the show, but time is getting short. I race next week in St. Cloud, I'm getting down to "hand to hand" combat with the city over electrical codes, I am trying to make the September Ozarks race work, and I almost forgot that I'm still in Comp I class. Besides, I have a meeting at the lake with some chamber of commerce folks and hopefully the water patrol, (again) on Monday April the 1st. If you guys go, have fun for us. And the Shooters dock show is getting almost as big as the Tantara show. |
Just so you all know the Tan-Tar-A show over Easter wknd. is the only show going on. Shooters is not having there show until later and tying it in with there opening for the year. A date hasn't been set yet, but I will keep you informed, might be first week in May. Hope you all enjoy the show and please stop by and say hello, we are the end of the far dock closest to the main channel. I think we are taking a couple of larger Maxum cruisers, and a couple of runabouts along with some mid-sized Donzi's. Always a fun show, just hope the weather cooperates. Look forward to seeing you all next wknd.

GOOD NEWS FOR ONCE!!:D :D
The almighty weather gods are saying sunny and around 60 for the Easter weekend, so, sure would beat the usual cold crap we usually get! Let's hope that forecast holds....hey Lutzparty, MissAmy, and Ssherman, look forward to seeing you there! Mark (aka: Watermoose) |
was there this weekend and guess what
It did not snow. The last 2 weekends we went down it snowed. The snow was not bad, still a great get away, but the weather we had this last saturday was a welcome change.
I even got on the water, test drove a boat. The 496 engine has that new "winterizer" feature that seems to be easy and convienient. I think we are heading back down next week. |
Yes, the forecast looks pretty good. We are still planning on being there. Hope to run into you all.
