Dually bound
Hey Boyzzz,
I'm currently in the Truck Forum looking for advise on a dually..Any input there would be great, see you there... Oz |
I picked up an 08 F450 King Ranch late last year and really like it a lot. No problems and it tows great. The only thing is the 80 mph limiter. I'm probably gonna get a programmer to fix that but the new powerstrokes are so much quieter than ever before.

08 F350 PS DRW 3.73 rear LSD FWD 8' bead Supercab. Tows a Formula 382 without difficulty. I have never felt uncomfortable in any of the conditions I have towed. It even stops it pretty well the two times the trailer brakes failed last year. I am pretty close to the GCVW when fully loaded (steel trailer) so you might consider an F-450 if you have a 38 footer or larger. Its a beast parking but you get used to it. Back seat is fair sized but you wouldn't want to sit back there for a long trip. The LSD is pretty worthless. I ask the dealer to make sure it was still working the last time I had it in for an oil change because I needed FWD to get out of a pile of snow when one rear wheel was on pavement. He said it was working fine. It just didn't seem like it because the torque of the PS was overpowering the clutches in the rear end. No other problems or issues.

I really like my GMC 3500 dually. It's a 2004 with the Duramax motor and the best part about it is the Allison transmission which is far and away the best tranny on the market. 4:10 rear end makes any launch ramp a breeze and it also has 4x4 if you get into a slippery situation. ZERO problems and I love the truck. My 35" cig in the steel trailer weighs 12,500# and it pulls it no prolem at all.

Duramax or Cummins. I have had all three,Did not have any luck out of Ford 6.0.I do not know about the 6.4 ,Hell they are all nice I know from experience you can get a lemon in all of them.

Have had most success with F-350 SHORT BOX 4X4.
My 08 was stolen 2 weeks ago. Ford has discontinued the short box on duallys so now I'm stuck on how to go forward. Don't want 8 ft. box . Too big to park and doesn't look as good to me. Dodge makes a 6.5 ft. box on the Mega cab but with that the total truck length is same as Ford 8 ft dually. |
06 chevy 2500 duramax/allison. Tows like a champ. The ride sucks without a load and the stock suspension. Upgrade shocks and put the load rite air bags on the back end and you will have a 2500 that rides like a 1500 but will tow like a beast. My fuel mileage with my predator programmer is 20 MPG highway, 14 towing my Velocity 320

I have had three GM dually diesels ('04,'06,'07) and have run into the motor going into limp mode on all three for no apparent reason.
No more Duramax for me, unless it's a lowner for free like the current Topkick. |
My advice is to check them all out and pick what fits your likes the best. You know what they say about opinions:p Mine is that Cummins is the best diesel motor hands down and real trucks have solid front axles. No matter which one you choose they will have plenty of power.

There all good trucks! Pick the one you look cool in. :ernaehrung004:

Lots of anger in you....:angry-smiley-038::evilb:

Cummins....period.

Towing a 45 foot Sonic with a 350!!! WOW, you gotta be a couple of tons overweight!! Point of the matter is that when you get over 38' you are pretty near the max towing weight and maybe over the GCVW

I don't remember now what it was rated to tow weight-wise but I remember it being well over the boat. Also pulled Chuck's Nor-tech a couple of times, same truck. No problem. |
