As long as the stringers aren't rotted.. You can't go wrong for 8k.
You could part it out for that if you had too. But the last thing you want is rotted stringers and have the motors drop and then you have to fully de-rig and re-build stringers!!!! NOT GOOD!! 8K is good if all checks out good Luck |
Agree $8k sounds decent if the power is a good as stated. Prolly not the best choice for a raceboat but if its pleasure first, race second then probably a good choice.
Looks like someone may be jumping up to class 5! LOL |
boat
boat has been fresh water its whole life floor is gelcoat. stringers all look solid and clean engine compartment seems really clean. says it runs low 70's but for 8k i could always run a blower LOL thank you all for the help in this economy its tuff handing over cash lol
|
Must have pretty big power to run that fast. My buddy spent a ton on his and it would run around 60. Its a sit down boat and rides ruff as hell. But they look cool if you paint the fairing white.
|
I agree. My 96 22' Scarab ran mid 60's with a 454(330HP). You would need a lot of HP in that 28 to run low 70's(GPS). I would guess 500+ ponies.
|
power
its been built by a respected builder in mass. spins the 25 pitch 5400-5500 so in prop calculation its right on the money but i agree i thought it would take a lot to run low 70's how rough do they ride??? i boat mostly in the great south bay wich can get a little nasty i think is like 22degree vee i just figured the length would help
|
ttt
back to the top all input needed supposed to be picking it up this weekend tahnx chris
|
think twice if you want to race it some day. 28 foot would require you to run class 5. you'll need to be cabable of 80 plus to run in a 75 mile per hour class. I think you should reconsider the 24 Carrera or that 26 footer you were lookin at.
just my opinion..been there done that. |
Chris,
What happened to the Corsa? I thought you were picking that up last weekend?? I also agree with Bruce. Bob |

scarab excel 28
do they really ride that hard?? cant be any harder than my baja 226 sport no??? and it has about 5 more feet? just wondering thank you
|
It really did ride that ruff. Its got sit down pedistal seats and a shallow V. My buddies wife wouldnt ride in it anymore so he sold it and bought a 29 Baja. Its a heavy boat so its gonna take a ton of power to get any respectable speeds out of it. His also had cracks along the cockpit bulkhead, so you may want to check that. It was a very cool looking boat after he painted it.

I think they are a 21 degree hull:eek:, not 24 degree like the 24 or 25ol your 226 is a 21 too. your better off with the other boats posted or find a sutphen 26 = has a 26degree hull. which engine builder in mass??
