From the Galveston seawall to the Houston Turning basin is 55 miles by GPS, The actual channel is officialy 50 miles. Add another six miles and that gets you downtown.

It's also about 50 miles by boat from my neighbourhood on the San Jacinto river to Galveston. My favorite run
