Default Leaving Houston - Cool Time Lapse Video from the Ship Channel

Has kind of a sci-fi feel to it with the night lights. Seems like a damn long way to the ocean, but hard to tell because of the time lapse.

Had no idea it was so long, tons of industry there that's for sure. Can it be travelled by anyone or would they stop someone if they tried?

One of the commenters posted the times, total time 2:18 from the start to the Bay.

That ship started about a mile inside the 610 loop, there a few docks even closer to downtown the turning basin which is as far as a merchant ship can go is six miles from downtown. We used to run to downtown all the time before 9/11 but not anymore. Groups can apply to the USCG for permission to go up.

The video stopped a couple of miles past the Baytown suspension bridge at Morgans point. From there it is another 30 miles or so by water to Galveston and the Gulf.

You can still travel in the main ship channel but you can not pass the Battleship Texas where the channel splits and heads downtown.

The last few seconds from the Ferry and the Monument to the end of the tape are open to the public.

I'd say the total video covered about 25 miles

This is the area covered, the ferry and the Monument are adjacent to the Battleship
