Satisfaction69,

Welcome back to the board. So when do you get to post the picture of the largest boat with an OSO sticker? Besides the big boat how is the RC project coming?

Good luck on all your projects.

Dan

satisfaction69 03-27-2002 01:13 AM

Steve David and all the OSO'ers thanx for all the support you gave us and the Marines and other (troops) that are still fihgting over for what we believe in.:) :)

Candyman:In the process of getting back to the states and then back home somehow somewhere I've missplaced the 4 pics. Also be trying to get in touch with the rest of the Tiger Squad, I think SSgt Steele or Sgt.Stiles might have them. Ive gone through all my photos that I took and can't find them at all:mad:  Really pisses me off right now that I can't locate them.

Also working on that 72" Cigarette just put the 2 25.6cc J&G Zenoahs (weedwacker) engines in it, waitng on the drives from a co. called B.T.H. in Germany. Bought 2 NO.6 drives for $450.00 each + 50.00 S&H, but they're killer drives I like the German precision for the modeling needs. The boat should run in the 50-60mph range no problem. Soon as I get the drives in and mounted I'm gonna see if Dave Hunter will be willing to paint it for me and get Todd and Tres to sign the boat for me.

candyman35 03-27-2002 12:17 PM

satisfaction69,

I'm not familiar with the drives. Are you sure they will handle that speed? I have heard that outdrives really slow the R/C boats down. My buddy had twin J&G's using the traditional rigging and the boat ran great. Are you going to be using 1/8th scale drivers in your boat?

Dan

Sean 03-27-2002 12:31 PM

Welcome back Troy!

satisfaction69 03-27-2002 10:48 PM

Candymann: Plan on using 1/4 scale drivers if I can find them, or somrthing a little bigger than 1/8 scale to help with the size of the boat. What I like about the German Z-Drives(NO.6) is that they can be reduced from 1.25-1, 1.36-1 and 1.5-1 ratio just like the real Mercs can. I can run larger props or pitch and have the torque to do so. All the Zenoahs seem to run out of torque when they're revvin' at 14,000rpm loaded if I can bring them dwn to about 10,000-12,0000 that would keep my torque and hp curve closer together within a few 100 rpm's.

Sean: Where did all the Cig guys find the kewlll avatars(logos) below your sign ons the the board has is a little cheesey for my Cigarette tastes(sorry). Still learning all this pc stuff but it makes it harder when I don't have a printer and scanner, soooon though.Thanxxx

Satisfaction69,

I believe my buddy is doing quarter scale drivers. I'll check and let you know. Those drives sound cool. I'm glad you’re not using the warehouse hobby type.

Dan

satisfaction69 03-27-2002 11:15 PM

Been there done those and the ones from Capricorn boats from Canada and threw them out. what kind of models does your buddy have??

candyman35 03-27-2002 11:33 PM

He just got out of the hobby but is still manufacturing the drivers. He had 3 race cats from a custom builder in CA. He built a scale 56" Aeromarine Apache with an inline twin cylinder Quick Draw. That boat was awesome. He also had a 72" Warehouse Hobby flat deck Scarab. That one had the J&G's side by side. He lost the radio and the boat hit the shore and launched. Fiberglass parts everywhere. My buddy goes by the name of Blazer Manufacturing. He has done a lot of pattern work for different companies. I know he did the front covers for those J&G engines. I'll try to check on the drivers for you.

While you were gone there were a few posts about guys working on R/C projects. I wish I had the time.

Dan
