502 Gen VI Block Oil Bypass Valve
502 gen 6 block with OME remote filter and cooler.
If I changed to a hi volume oil pump do I need to run a 30LB bypass relive valve? Is there already a 30 # in a marine block; are there 2 valves in the block? The reason I ask is I found bearing material in the pan but not in the filter...was it being bypass????
I found this and I thought UMMM.
Detailed Description
Used on Gen V & VI engines when running an external oil cooler with a sandwich adapter between the block & oil filter. The 30 Lb valve compensates for the restriction caused by running an external cooler. Used in the location adjacent to the oil filter nipple on the oil filter pad. For standard non-sandwich adapter applications use GM # 25013759

There are a lot of threads on this. I had added to one where I had taken pictures of a block and had wires going thru the passages to show how the oil would go.
I would bet you do not have the 30lb valve.
