What Sun Glasses for Wind Protection? HELP

I bought Arnette, Rage model. JUNK. My eyes water at 40Mph. What are you guys wearing? What protects against wind? My boat doesn't have much wind protection, and I like it that way. Need something else ASAP!

Thx.

I just bought a pair of goggles from Bass Pro Shops called MAD DOG. They are made for atv riding but worked great in the boat lightweight and tinted. Used then for the first time at Smith Mountain Lake run this weekend and loved them better then any sunglasses I've used. Dean

I have oakley gascan's and they work well on protecting eyes from wind (as I wear contacts, dont need those flying out)

i vote for oakley juliets, they will also not fly off your head at 100 if you happen to turn your head. main reason i bought them. they do not help with eyes watering much past 75, but with small windscreens they were great for me.

Any generic brand of beer goggles will work well

bajaholic 05-18-2009 07:36 AM

Go to your local Harley Davidson dealership. They always have racks of glasses in numerous styles.

I use the glasses with a Full foam, there (is a thin small band of foam around the outside of the glasses) when we are running. Then change into the cooler more stylish glasses when we stop. And they work up to 100 mph+

Also the have a type of glass's that has the foam just across the top. I had good luck with those as well, but above 60 mph they started to get a little more air in than I wanted.

The best part is the Harley glasses are $15-$30, depending on what style you choose.

Oakley "Monster Dog" polarized. Only pair of sunglasses I've owned & liked. I wear them at the sand dunes, on the boat, at work, in the plane....

I got a pair last summer after the baja bash when I slipped off the deck of the boat and lost my Oakleys. They work great.

Timeless61 05-18-2009 07:27 PM

the wiley-x do not seem to be offered with polarized in many different options, can all of them be ordered with polarized lenses or just certain ones? anyone have any info? how do they look with the foam as just regular sunglasses, not so much for going fast in the boat?

drypipetiger 05-18-2009 08:04 PM

I too vote Wiley X... I have a polarized pair and love them. Removable padding and removable strap. Works great in the wind and then later out of the wind with the pad out and strap off.

I lost my Oakley Gas Cans in the water yesterday. So I am looking at ordering some custom oakleys to match the paint scheme of the boat and doing the custom etching "SONIC POWERBOATS" on the lens. After all the suggestiong for the Monster Dogs I guess I will be ordering them. Now which color scheme hmmmm.

I stopped in at me local Harley dealer, and bought some glasses and they have the padding around the frame to stop the wind. And they were only 30 bucks.

Panther 04-12-2010 09:24 PM

I think it all depends on the size of your noggin!!

Drago "Box" Polarized have worked really well for me over the years. I heard they were recently discontinued but not sure...
