I miss Budweiser
As a fan and racer in offshore, I can tell you our sport is not the same without the Bud Lite team out there on the course with us, not to mention the Seabold family in the tunnel boats. The Busch family and Budweiser are synonimous with boat racing and helped put our sport on the map. After two races this year without them I had to voice my displeasure and encourage you to do the same.
I just went on there website and explained why I will no longer purchase any product of theirs. Here is the link, http://budweiser.com/index.aspx |
I just let them know also, we need to get everyone to do this, unless David Scott doesn't think it's a good thing to do.
|
I just saw a post on the Lucas Oil/Budweiser Outerlimits race boat......so I guess they are not out of it completely

I have received word from a confidential inside source that InBev/Anheuser-Busch is hearing from other sources regarding the value they are missing not having us on the circuit. Only going to get more interesting over time :):) |
InBev also dropped NHRA and the Budweiser Brandon Bernstein top fuel car.......
Whether you hate bud beers or like them, this was just a dumb move on InBev's part. Those Belgians should stick to waffles. |

"Hi Scotty.....Love your boat.....and turbines in general ....I am an employee of Anheuser Busch....and I can tell you....the new people that the company sold out to, care very little for sporting sponsorships....The good relations with sporting groups, that were a hallmark of the Busch family, that took generations to establish.....are more or less gone....The new group in charge, Inbev, are based in Belgium, and are more or less run by Brazilians....and the "bottom line" ......is the only thing on their minds..The cost cutting measures implemented since the takeover border on the ridiculous..The deal is done, however...and there is little that can be done....I can even smell the difference in the change of ingredients while they are brewing at work..The decades of goodwill the Busch family fostered with sports media ...has more or less vaporized since the takeover....The employees dont like it....distributors dont like it....public dont like it...but it is what it is...Perhaps, when the new owners see the true cost of trampling on the Busch legacy..in terms of the bottom line...things will change back......but it will never be what it once was.. |
To bad Augie got out of the beer bsn lot of work i guess

Where exactly do you go on the site to voice our opinions?

The Anheuser Busch family has a legacy dating back to Bernie Little's Michelob Light in offshore (remember the fuel tanks painted like beer cans) and his decades atop the Unlimited hydro circuit with such drivers as Dean Chenoweth (R.I.P.), Jim Kropfeld, Chip Hanauer and Dave Vilwock. I agree that it just doesn't seem the same without the Budweiser colors out there, whether it's on the water with the Littles or on the pavement with the Bernsteins. Sorry, but I doubt that Kasey Kahne even likes Budweiser. At least Dale Jr. made you think he liked it.

F inbev... great article about their true colors as if no one knew..

Here is mine..
After years of consuming your products, I ,sadly, must inform you that I will do so no longer. Your brand has always stood out as a caring, community oriented organization. Many of the fine waterfront establishments in Florida benefitted from your sponsorships of Boat Racing and Waterfront festivals. Now, after your recent corporate redirect, you have chosen to cease your funding of all related Sports Marketing sponsorships. It has taken a toll here locally on the people that depended on your support of their locations along the waterways. Everyone I know that was affected by your enthusiasm for our sport is now deeply concerned. Until such time as you reconsider your decision to vacate the sponsorships of the boating community, in particular the Bud Light Offshore Racing Team, my employees, my family and myself will no longer purchase any InBev(AB) or Eagle Brand products. I regret that it has come to this but you hurt this community more than you possibly understand. |

Here is the link, http://budweiser.com/index.aspx Now for real...It really sucks how much the take over of Budweiser in general sucks....the european owned people support sport but maily soccer....or Football in the land of European sports...maybe just throw out a ball and get to it, offshore soccer, they will come running back. I also heard the horese were being relace by ponnies
Sucks when companies get taken over and change there whole sales/Marketing direction. Was never a real beer fan but really appreciated what they did for the boating/Racing/Sports communities |

They got back to me
Hello Scott, Thank you for visiting our Web site and e-mailing Anheuser-Busch. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts about the Budweiser team’s sponsorship of motorboats in the last few decades. As you mentioned, we were the primary sponsor of David Scott's boat in the OSS series for many years. In evaluating our re-newals for 2009, the sponsorship did not fit our objectives. We have eliminated all boat sponsorships, and were not singling out the team. Your comments have been forwarded directly to the appropriate department for handling. Again, Scott, thank you for contacting Anheuser-Busch and bringing this to our attention. Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments. alrighty then.... that's a heart breaker!

They got back to me also.
Hello Gino and the crew at OCM, Thank you for watching the Budweiser Select and Bud Light offshower powerboat over the years, and for getting in touch to share your thoughts. We are always glad to hear from friends of Budweiser Racing. You mentioned that you were disappointed when Anheuser-Busch announced the 2008 season would be Bud Light’s last as official beer sponsor of the Dave Scott and his championship offshore team. The voice of fans like you is always important as we consider the future of our sports marketing. We are sharing your thoughts with the Bud Light sports marketing team. For our part, we have enjoyed a great run with both Dave Scott and his crew. They have been great partners. Beyond that, Budweiser and sports go hand-in-hand. Motorports and fans like you will always be a part of our marketing, and we will continue to brew the same great Budweiser. Again, Gino, thank you for writing and for voicing your thoughts. Should you have any additional questions or comments, please let me know. Steve Anheuser-Busch, Inc. Customer Relationship Group 1-800-DIAL-BUD (1-800-342-5283) www.budweiser.com 5452712 |
I also received an email back today, very similar to Gino's.

They must have a from letter ready for us now. Word-for-word I got the same one.
|
pretty much the same thing I got as well.
|
AB is no longer sponsoring the Champboat races in St. Louis either. It would be a real shame if these races don't continue. Hopefully Billy Seebold will be able to work something out.
|
Scotty - Here is the email I sent to them. Get your people to design up a full page ad and send it to my people and we will get their people to read it :
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Over the years AB has become synonomous with powerboat racing, both through Dave Scott and his awesome team and Tim Seebold and his F1 team. However since you got taken over by people only interested in the bottom line it seems as though all the goodwill and respect these teams have built on behalf of AB is being thrown away. Dave and Tim have been amazing ambassadors for your brands and from someone very much involved in marketing its a very serious error of judgement they have made. I own and publish a number of magazines, all with global distribution and in our powerboating magazine we have reguarly featured the Budweiser boats including on a recent cover. HOWEVER since you have decided to turn your back on Dave Scott and Tim Seebold, and the many thousands of fans worldwide who follow them, we have unfortunately have decided to boycott ALL brands of beer and products produced by AB, its parent company and associated groups. I am also in the process of putting together a full page advert which will run not just in our powerboat magazine, but ALL of our magazines, encouraing everyone out there involved in motorsports to boycott your products until such time as you see the error of your ways. I highly reccomend you talk to your new owners and suggest they look at the benefits they received from being involved in these sports as in the end turning your back on those sports who have supported you will hurt both your reputation AND your bottom line which your new Brazillian owners seem to value more than the relationships that have been built over decades by Augie Busch. So in closing I, and thousands of competitors, organisers, fans and supporters urge you to seriously consider your next move very carefully. Oh and please dont insult me with one of your form letters that seem to be standard in answering customer complaints. I would suggest its in your best interests to pass THIS email up the food chain. well said Ned....how ya been?
