Default Experience with eBay?

I'm looking to buy a boat from eBay motors and it is my first time using eBay. I was wondering if you guys could share some of your experiences with eBay and whether or not you approve of using eBay to purchase something such as a boat. Also if you have any experience with the Vehicle Purchase Protection program that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I sold my 2001 911 Turbo on ebay, it was seamless.

If I would buy I would check provenance (titles, state registration, abstract title from CG and so forth) and might send small deposit with the rest in cash form UPON delivery.

I have purchased a Ruf 911 and a vintage car on Ebay and was quite happy with everything.

I found my 2007 Sunsation on EBAY. It was easy to use. I guess it also depends on the other end though.

Are we talking about a 5000$ boat or a 50,000$ boat,if we are talking about serious money (the latter)buy a airline ticket and go make sure it is what claimed or at least find a fellow oso'er who lives close by to go take a first hand look. Don't be afraid to tell the seller that you want his cell number, home number and work number before sending any kind of money more than a few hundred either. I bought a Trans-am for 13,000$ off E-bay 6 states away but I told seller before sending someone with cash to go get it that I wanted all the info I mentioned and a normal person has no problem providing such info,Smitty

Ype,
i just bought our Hydrostream off e-BAY, but the only reason I did because it was located in Cape Coral Fl. ,and I could got look, (Sea- trial) @ it before I bought it. Big ticket items, I would have to be able to look at it first.

I bought our XJR, and my F350 Dually on Ebay.

In both instances I began making offers and we eventually came to an ameniable price. Both times I agreed to send a 500 good faith deposit VIA PAYPAL, and agreed to show up to get the car in a reasonable timeframe.

Went up, inspected the car a final time, drove it, ensured titles were straight, and wrote the check for the balance after making sure the vehicle met my approval and was everything they said it was.

Always review a seller's feedback.

In my opinion had either seller not been willing to allow me to drive it, inspect it, etc.... before writing the last check, I would have walked away. If they don't have anythign to hide they should be willing to do this...
