Default NYC Checkpoints and Patriotic Parade

The Festivities begin Friday afternoon, June 19th and the 1st party begins at 6 pm.

There will be a mandatory Captain’s Meeting, Saturday morning at 11 AM with a 12 noon start. Remember, no drinking of alcohol in boats while boats are being operated and maintain a zero policy…until we are back on the dock…then we ROCK!

Checkpoints and co-ordinates:
1. Ossining Boat and Canoe Club N41 09.5 latitude W73 52.3 longitude
2. Peekskill 45’ Houseboat N41 17.3 latitude W73 56.4 longitude
3. Haverstraw Marina N41 13.7 lat W73.57.53 long
4. Liberty Landing Marina N40 42.64 latitude W74 02.59 longitude

Please fly and American Flag during the PATRIOTIC PARADE TO THE BRIDGE…at 10 knots or less…mandated by the Coast Guard and Homeland Security!

STAY BEHIND THE OFFICIAL PACE BOAT at 10 knots or less until I drop the Green Flag at the George Washington Bridge. The “New York” side of the Hudson River is for Commercial traffic, stay to the West/New Jersey side. As we leave the docks, allow time for the OFFICIAL PACEBOAT to get into position, on the NYC side of the Hudson River. Stay to the PORT SIDE OF THE PACEBOAT…there may be an international swim race around Manhattan that morning…lets give them some room.

As we travel from CP #1 (Ossining) to CP#2 (Peekskill), keep the WHITE BUOYS on your Starboard side as we pass the Indian Pt. Nuclear Power Station…if you go inside those buoys, you are going to intercepted by the NAVY…with guns drawn!

If you miss a checkpoint, courtesy card(s) will be given to you back at Liberty Landing Marina. All cards must be turned in by 5 PM. The AWARDS will follow at 6 PM.

Billy, the boat that we raced and won the 1982 Championship NPBA just went 106 miles to Bimini and back and took first place in B class, twin engine outboard. We look forward to covering your event next week for good old times. We'll see you all Friday morning. All photos will be uploaded every night. We will be shooting video and taking stills.
