Rub rail on formula

I have a 87 223LS Formula and the rub rail that goes on the silent thunder box came loose and water caught the edge and tore it off the boat.
I see some rivets on the sides and screws along the front edge, whats the best way to attach the new rail?
For what its worth I drilled three new holes and put three staineless screws in the old rail when it was loose and when I got back in a whole section was missing.
Thanks for the help guys.

if you can get to the inside through bolt them with 10-24 or 12-24 oval head screws and nyloc nuts. At the very least through bolt the ends if you can.

Cant get in there, only have the small openings for the exhaust to get in.
I was thinking of maybe getting them stainless spriong nuts?
You can close them and when it goes inside a hole two tabs open up on the inside.
Also was told to use 3M 5500 adhesive?
Whats your thoughts?

That would be 5200 adhesive and I would not do that. I don't think the flip outs are a good idea because you will really have to open up the holes. What about cutting a small access panel on the underside of the swim platform so that you can reach over there. Then you can put one of those plastic access ports back in there.

I like that idea!
