Use the Monel, the stainless ones I have found at Home depot are not pointed like Monel, the Monel penetrates the wood easier.

I've done numerous trailer bunks and lifts with Monel staples and never had a problem with the staples. They far outlast the carpet. The results will be the same in a vinyl installation. With stainless, it's all in the metallurgic composition. Rust resistant, yes. Rustproof, no. Not that it matters in this type of application, but monel and inconel are incredibly tough alloys, especially when it comes to heat resistance. They are nearly always the choice of material for tailpipes, stacks, and hardware in the hot end of turbine engines.
I have a good local hardware store that stocks Arrow brand in Monel, but not always in the lengths I need.
I believe the last time I bought them in quantity it was from
McMaster-Carr.

Its not the stainless staple (or fastener) that rusts. Its the tool that is used to install the staple (or fastener) that causes metal transfer. If the installation tool is not stainless, the stainless fastener or staple will show signs of rusting..

Not sure:rolleyes:I guess there costumer service and how they treated there costumers or using steel 'rusting'staples,NOT wrapping up redone interior pieces letting the seat studs dig into them, just throwing them in the box, having spray glue all over new seat backs, not putting vents is right places, charging for normally included stuff when rebuilding interior, doubling quotes,Tell the costumer he has no choice if no pay or no return your interior for summer, accuses costumers of lying telling them they are the ones using rusting staples, even when costumer has receipt showing a re skin and labor to re skin, charging for striping interior when customer already striped it all before shipping.throwing away one back panel and hatch foam when ask to save and ship back,or damaging hatch pad starboard panel ,charging costumer for warranty work labor and materials and tell them they didn't.also making costumer pay shipping when was told Mcleod would pay for shipping, got caught trying to ship back with out telling costumer of new doubled amount ,because already having costumer CC acc #.Because last years Old CC acc was closed.

Now the nonexistent warranty is really nonexistent.

maybe some x non paid employs will chime in:rolleyes:

Thats beginning
Rob

They carry the stainless steel Arrow ones at Loews Home Improvement. Go to the staple section and search the area with the small specialty boxes, find the most expensive ones and bingo, you have located them. I bought them 2 weeks ago.

For Marine environments, MONEL (which is essentially 1/3 copper and 2/3 Nickel) is MUCH better than 304 Stainless and even better than 316 Stainless. Monel simply CANNOT rust. Stainless may or may not rust, with type 316 being the most rustproof in marine environments.
