Remember a 42 Fountian is really only 38 feet long.
I have been wondering for a while if MTI includes the area that goes over the drive in the overall length also.
I'll give you the beak, going to measure mine Wednesday and see if it is 2 feet.

Does Formula/ Donzi/Sunsation include the swim platform in their length?

Quoted from Wikipedia "Length Overall refers to the maximum length of a vessel from the two points on the hull most distant from each other, measured perpendicular to the waterline."
Fountain, Nortech, Outerlimits as well as others all incorporate notch transoms and/ or molded swim platforms, so they have less wet surface compared to a Cig or Scarab, Apache, Baja, etc.. You sacrafice rough water handling and cabin space, but typically pick up speed.
I have a few friends who own the Scarab 38 AVS. It is a really nice boat, looks sexy as hell running accross the water, handle the rough water great and has a huge cabin. the downside is that they are heavy and a bit slower than comparable 38's.
