Waterlogged 47 Fountain
Anyone have a solution for the accumulation of water in the forward compartment of an '05 47 Lightning (kept in a slip)? There's enough water up there to significantly increase planing time and make the ride a bit rougher in 3 footers. So far, been unable to find out where its coming from or how to get it out.

check the hatches..meaning is there a through hull fitting above or below the rubrail where the water drains out. Also not familiar with this hull that much..but do you have a anchor locker and does it drain overboard..Good Luck Jeff

a friend of my has a 38 ft sc. everytime he washed his boat, or it rained, the front of his boat would flood. it ended up being a clogged anchor stow drain. not sure if its your issue? but its a place to start. hope this helps:coolcowboy:

Not sure on the 47 but on mine, you can crawl up against the gunnels in the cabin and see the thru-deck mounts for the bow rails near and around the flourecent lights. Make sure you don't see water trails when you wash her off. There should also be a working bildge pump under the step where you enter the cabin or somewhere in that proximity if there is no folding step.. There's only so many things it can be. Keep looking; you'll find it. |
deck rail's, bow light, cracked fiberglass in anchor locker. also may have clogged vents that drain the compartments under the vee birth.
