You like the Skater more anyway by the amount of words posted about it compared to the Spectre.

As I've heard Gl say, "Skater is the Cigarette of cats". But newer and more reliable would be choice for a non-wrench turner like myself.

Skater everyday and twice on Sunday.

tomtbone1993 07-19-2009 01:44 AM

how would a 35 motion fit into the mix??

Velocity Tom 07-19-2009 09:43 AM

I lookes at a bunch for sale but I dont know alot about motion.

stainless 07-19-2009 12:43 PM

Looks like a great boat at a sweet price!

Velocity Tom 07-19-2009 01:35 PM

I like the 1/4 can. but the pleasure deck has a small cab. we run a boat alot. Not just poker runs and bar hoping. We go to the beach 1-2 times a week.

36 Skaters are hard to sell without #6's. Are you looking at the 36 Pleasure at Pier57? Last I knew they were pretty firm around 150k. Do not spend that much on a Spectre! I wouldn't spend that much on a non 6 Skater either when you can find one for 175k asking with 6's. If they have come way down on that Skater then maybe its a different story.

Velocity Tom 07-19-2009 06:14 PM

Its a 1998 with no5s.

Velocity Tom 07-19-2009 06:15 PM

What about motion? There are a few out there in the low 100k range.

OkieTunnel 07-19-2009 07:09 PM

At the risk of sounding like I'm tooting my own horn...I would (and did) buy a Motion over a Spectre. The Motion will do everything the Spectre will, and, without a tunnel tab. A few people on this site with experience in both a Motion and a Spectre who have been asked have pick the Motion over the Spectre as far as handling but they are very similar, ie the Spectre is a Motion widened a little and lengthened a foot. My Motion is a #6 boat. Most of the Motions and Spectres have bravo style drives.

This is something I have noticed as well. Where most newer Skaters are #6 boats, the majority of Motion and Spectres are Bravo boats. Is it simply a different clientele looking at the different brands? Or is it the factorys pushing one drive or the other??

Darrell.

Different Clientele because they are in different price ranges. #6's are alot more expensive than Xr's. Skater, MTI, Nortech are building a boat to a 500k-1 million or so price point. They will have sixes with very few exceptions. Spectre, Motion, and the west coast boats are usually built to a little lower price point and usually have bravo style drives.

OkieTunnel 07-19-2009 07:38 PM

I don't want to sound like I am dissing the Spectre. There are ALOT of great boats out there that can be bought below 120k. ITS is a plus and I personally would pick the 525 over the 575. IMHO
