As you can see from the map, this is the area of 9 Mile and Jefferson in St. Clair Shores.

The Red circle is Jacks waterfront and the yellow circle is the beech grille.

I am not sure where you are coming from, but the easiest way to find Jacks if you have never been there is look for the 9 mile tower. You cannot miss it.

If your coming from the detroit river, it will be about 4-5 miles out of the mouth on the east just around the point that sticks out. Again look for a tall cylinder shaped building, if you are out in front of the building, the canal for jacks will be slightly to the right, you will see a sign on the right side of the canal for Jefferson Beach Marina, and the Beech grille, Jacks is in a couple hundred feet and to the left. Also, look for the big yachts the Ovation and Infinity, that will confirm you are in the right canal.

Thanks Smurf. I am riding from Erie Metro, the end of the river. I hope the weather holds for a run this long....if not it looks like ther are to resturants in the river. Jacks does look the best for kids, judging by the websites.

There should be more places on the river! I remember going to Duffys as a kid...the good old days!

I've done the trip to Sinbad's then took a short taxi ride to Hard Rock. Made for a fun trip. You could do any part of downtown - Hockeytown cafe, casinos, Greek Town, etc. Not sure how it was worked out but they had a slip for us. Probably want to set something up before leaving your boat unattended.

if you are putting the boat in at Erie Metro Park, you will pass by Portifinos, they have nice outside dining, it is the closest from Erie, then you will hit Sinbands which is across from
the Detroit Yacht Club which is on Belle Isle. These would be good choices if you get a late start or it is rough and you don't want to head all the way to Lake St Clair

If you put in at Erie Metro Park a lot you should think about joining LEOPA, it's only $40 or $45 per year. Even if you don't go on many of their events the club is now an ILYCA affiliate and it gives you entree into all the boat clubs around that area, for instance you could go to Ford Yacht club which is at the tip of Grosse Isle and very close to the launch, you could also eat at the Detroit Yacht Club. The clubs are extremely reasonable for food and especially drinks. Many of the clubs give us free overnight dockage so it really works out well. Plus LEOPA is a really nice group of people that boat between donwnriver, Toledo, and the Islands. Posted by MsPatriYacht
