OK, my 22 yr. old son is bugging me to go this year. I'm thinking about it. I would appreciate any info you folks can give. Where's the best place to stay, watch the races etc. Is the race in November? Is it already too late to plan.

Race week is Nov. 8th through Nov. 15th with the racing starting on the 11th. Most people stake out a spot on Mallory Square to watch the races if you don't have a hotel rm overlooking the race or a VIP area.

It's not too late to make plans but vacancy is going to start to fill up. Try to find a hotel at the north end of Duval St. (on Front St. maybe) where most of the activities are centered around. Not only is that where the bars are, but it is also by the pits (short walk) and the marina where all of the poker run boats dock.
