Question 1999 47' Outerlimits

I met a guy today with a 47' OL, 1999 model, for sale. It has TRIPLE Keith Eickert 572's pushing over 1000HP each and #6 drives. Fuel injected. He claims the boat will run 148mph? Is that number realistic? Also, what is a realistic price in today's market for such a boat. Each motor has ~20 hours since rebuild.

Man...................I would have to see that to believe it. I have a buddy that has a 37OL with 1100's in it and the best he seen is 118mph .

I know more can chime in but I would have to see that to believe it!!

Default no possible

A friend of mine had a 47 and i've had a couple of 42 outerlimit that where newer and they want come close to that speed with 1000 hp, to do that the motor would need to be pushing close to 1500 hp each and that is questionable with a 99 hull.

I kinda thought that too. must of have been a big fish story.. It takes ALOT to get over the 100mph mark with a V. It is do able Some people think 3 engines makes the boat 1/3 quicker.. I think in most applications the 3rd motor doesn't gain a whole lot maybe 10mph in a V... But you aren't pushing a 99' OL to 148....... maybe turbines

We built the 51 with tripple 1200's and that boat went an honest 138. I think your friends boat is fast, but not quite as fast as he is claiming.

Well he isn't a friend, just some guy I ran into on our lake that I have never seen before. He says he will let the boat go for $150k now, no questions. He just wants to get out from underneath it so he claims. That's why im trying to figure out if that's a hell of a deal or about what it's worth.

How can you still want that boat after you read the other thread?? You would be wise to hire a surveyor. If he gives the OK take it to Outerlimits and let them test it for CG issues as the surveyor will not do that.
