Anybody Know this 47 Lightning
I asked this question couple days ago in the Fountain Section and only 1 response.
Anybody know anything about this: http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/2002.../United-States I have been watching this boat for over a yr. now, I think. Last yr it was over $200,000 and now under $140,000. A 47' with 575's in it and know body bought it yet. 7yrs old and only 175hrs. When was the last time it was in the water? I know triples are not the most popular right now. If there is good history behind this one, it is really starting to look appealing. |
Link doesn't work.

The original owner was an older gentleman that used to run it with the FL powerboat club in the winter season. I am pretty sure he traded it for another 47 Fountain.

Nice boat, but the trips would turn me away.

Fixed the link.
Most response are referring to the Triples being a problem. I know this maybe is an issue why it has not sold, but I was more interested in finding out if there is Mechanical/Electrical/Structural reasons. I'm not to concerned about the Trips as far as fuel goes, at least not at today's prices. I cruise around at 40mph most of the time now, but would like to have the power to get up and go when desired. I have a feeling Twin 850's will probably consume the same amount of fuel. |

Plus it's nice to have three props getting a 47' Fountain on plane. |

help the economy, just get a new one with stagged 700's..that the way to go.:grinser010:
I guess I do have some limits. The economy is pretty bad right now, but it has not effected the reduction of price on the new ones enough for me. |
Really seems like a lot of boat for the money, but.......................................TRIPS,.. ...........ugh.
I'm thinking of THREE of everything, routine maintenance alone would get expensive, not even mentioning 3 of them to refresh or worse. |
AFAIK, nobody is loaning on triple engine boats, so any buyer will have to just throw down the cash. That certainly thins the heard of potential buyers.
I can imagine going years between finding someone, especially now when anyone with cash knows how hard it is to come by: if your company gets a cash flow hit, it aint gonna come from credit. |
That boat has been sitting at J&J's for years...when it came in it was really rough.Repo, Check if all the salt water was removed from the cabin, haha, best to stay clear of that boat and dealer...mismatched drives, the list goes on n on....there are a few other, much nicer boats out there without horror stories...I got a friend/client Dan P. 703.303.2218 he has a really nice 47' no issues....good luck!

Doesnt sound right if it was traded in and a repo at the same time. Was ther more than one owner then?
