did you sell your 27 28 donzi??, love the all red reminds me of the fountain 33 10 meter or 40 12 meter all red with tan seats. my boat might end up like that or the next hull I buy.

LAKESIDE RESTORATIONS 08-14-2009 07:56 PM

Yes, We had a 26zx. We had gotten rid of that back about the turn of the year. Actually we had that for while by our normal ownership routine.. We for a while were going thru about 1- 2 a year.. The same went for our cars for a bit too.. My wife's attention span for these things had been a bit screwy for a while.. lol.. Wasnt all bad tho as you can get to have some nice experiences doing that & enjoy different things.

Anywhoo... :)
We wanted something bigger yet, and still also have a fast boat. We also wanted to have a smaller boat like a classic again too. This way we kind of would have the best of both worlds..

We will probably also still get another bigger boat yet as well. We would like to have something for very large water that we can stay on for short periods of time. However we found the cool smaller boat first that fit our smaller boat needs..

I just hope she (the wife) can let me have a few months breathing time before she finds the right fit again for the bigger boat.. lol :) Wonder what it's going to be, Cruiser, sport cruiser, Go fast??? I guess time will tell.. lol :) J

socalstone 08-14-2009 08:23 PM

great looking boat. I've always loved that hull. What's the plan?

LAKESIDE RESTORATIONS 08-14-2009 09:00 PM

Thanks. Nothing really wrong with it currently, but the current plan is some cosmetic stuff, as well as some engine/drive upgrades and performance work this fall/winter. I also plan to do some stuff with the trailer.. As far as a descript list, I am not sure how far I will be going on it, but I will be posting as I go. I do already have in our shop a new style heavier Bravo unit & transom assembly that I will be upgrading to, as well as a Hydraulic steering set up. To start with. :) Jamie / Lakeside

Nice boat. They handle rough water great for a 22 foot boat if you use the tabs.

The red stripe on my 22 gets real hot in the sun. I couldn't imagine the whole boat being red and walking around on the deck barefooted, but it sure is purrty!

Catmando 08-15-2009 12:55 AM

I had a red boat and I made sure I had gloves and shoes on when I went out on the deck.

I like white upholstery with red piping and red carpet in a red boat.

And I understand the Arneson drive works very well on these little Donzis.

I have had & been in just about all of the Donzi line up. I have also done poker runs in my 18c & my last 22c. They are a phenominal boat. Actually you usually only need the tabs at about 45-50 ish mph.. Then once you neutral the drive you can raise the tabs & run like the wind. My last 22c (a 2006) I owned would hit about 75-76mph.. That was with a bit more power than this one.. I think I will have to do something about that tho.. :) lol :) Jamie / Lakeside

I am probably going to convert the interior in our shop over to a savannah beige. The red can be hot, but my last 22c had a black stripe which was really hot to touch on a hot day.. lol :)

The arneson can & does work well on many of the Donzi lines. :)

Sweet ride,
I had been thinking about a smaller runabout like the 18 Donzi but I think I am going back to my jet-boat days, but some thing a little safer like an Eliminator pickle fork, 800NA hp

LAKESIDE RESTORATIONS 08-15-2009 07:27 PM

Thanks.. :)

Tunnel, 800 Hp, lots of speed... Safer?? Dont know about that, but sure would be fun as hell.. :) :party-smiley-004: Jamie

Thanks.. I love the 22's I have had them in the past & knew I would enjoy this one again. We have put some big power in them too. I am not sure if I will just build up this 454 in my shop, or if I will drop in a 525 or one of our custom engines.. I have the winter to think about it.. lol.. The nice thing is they can definitely haul azz & handle the power.. :) Jamie / Lakeside

Cool 22 Jamie! That's a rare bird!

I remember when the Testarossa editions were released. Our local Donzi dealer had one in their showroom, was it 1988? Just before OMC bought Donzi? Anyway, that beautiful all red 18 2+3 sat in their showroom for over three seasons. It was finally sold to a guy from Washington state.

The 22's are a fun ride. We had one new in 1987 with a 300 Tempest.

ITLLFLI 08-17-2009 11:53 AM

Nice new ride! Get your schedule clear and bring that to AOTH this spring!! :coolcowboy:

I think I met you guys at Skaterfest or one of the NYC Poker Runs. Do you do extensive Fibreglass work?

SteveDavid 08-17-2009 12:31 PM

No Rich,
They cannot restore your youth, (nor mine) nor your mid life,(nor mine) nor your senior stage (nor mine)....... But I bet they can make us some pretty cool caskets for the next phase...............

Your buddy in obsolesence,
Steve

For a guy who won the National Championship in Unlimited Hydros......last year, you certainly have low self esteem. :D

As a matter of fact I am looking for a pretty cool casket....sort of....a restoration on my Power Cat.

Your buddy in Mexican food,

Rich

I wish we could say we met you at one of those events...However it was not us... I see you are not far from us NJ :)

Yes we do extensive fiberglass work....Pretty much everything...We can build a boat if we had too :drink: You probably already know everything we do by now if you took a look at our site besides being a marine facility as well.

Hope to meet up sometime...Kristin

I agree and so would Jay...We always liked our classics we had...It just became a space thing when we changed out of our boats.. That is why we ideally would still want something bigger too.

Rare...yes..totally agree with you. That was one reason we wanted this one so bad.. :drink: Kristin
