has anyone installed #6 drives on a 357-sr1? If so what kind of advantages did you get?

Boats are built to handle certain weights and loads. Be careful, but a Formula that size from that era (not knocking them as they are nice boats) might not be capable of handling a #6 unless certain structual upgrades/additions have been done.

Seems like overkill. What size motors are you running? What is the reasoning behind added the 6's?

Dude - that would be a pain in the ass. All new transom, all new motor mounting locations, fair amount of new rigging, etc.... and then you still don't know what it will run like.

Advantages - no drive failures.

Disadvantages - just about everything else....

There is a guy at my old marina that either 3's or 3A's, I'm not sure, swinging some big cleavers. I think he was running high-70's low 80's maybe?
