I have seen that before, it appears you got off lightly.
My buddies engine dropped the valve due to a bad guide. the base traveled through the intake and wrecked another piston ,head, broke the rod and screwed the block. |

You did get offf lightly. Usually, pieces of the piston will cross over the intake and trash the other side as well. I have seen then open a cylinder up like a sardine can. Give me a shout if I can help. Good luck, Eddie.

Looks familiar..... happened a few weekends ago in the 598. A piece of the valve traveled over to the other side and damaged the opposing piston as well. Doesnt look like the block is damaged at all, which is really suprising. Something stuck the intake valve open though, and busted the retainer.

Yep....been there...not as lucky as you. I lost a chuck of the block and the head.

Sorry to hear you had issues :(

Been there, done that. Just like me you got lucky. My head cracked the between the exhaust and intake seats. Dropped the exhaust seat and exhaust valve took out piston. I caught mine in seconds. I only had to hone my cylinder.

I'm in the same club and I only realized an issue when a chunk closed the gab on the plug.
Eddie has my engine now for a rebuild and looking forward to what he can do with it. |
