Yep, great drive but I am going to try the IMCO SCX, I am putting the MMW MXS Drive up for sale over the winter, it has 1/2 hr of time on it, went out yesterday, just to run it after MMW completly went through it all new gears, bearings, clutchshaft and all races change, 4600.00 bucks someone will get a awsome drive for half the price of new 10,000 firm, 1:35 ratio 1/2 spacer the long this drive is fast, I am not concered if I lose a MPH or 2 as long as the IMCO will hold up better, being that they have the bigger gears in them.

When is your ride going to be done Rob, last time I saw your boat on the river was like 1 1/2 years :lolhit: ago WTF.

I started off this year with 6k- new valve springs, plug wires, water pumps, general annual maint. I spend about $175-$250 per day between gas, booze, food, lake entry fees, etc. If you throw in slip fees, eating at water front restaurants, hotel rooms, and long runs in your boat you better at least double the daily rate.

I'm over $10K this year, probably closer to $12.5K.

Sad really, considering the only way to "afford" to boat for some of us is to buy vintage. Of course, then every hiccup turns into thousands of dollars.......

I sometimes wonder if it just makes sense to have a monster ($850.00+ per month) payment on a much newer boat that would require less attention........?

Panther 09-19-2009 08:33 PM

I have no idea what I spend......

All I know is once the season started the only thing I replaced on the boat this year was two raw water pumps, 1 alternator and the oil!!!!! ;)

Having a great season = priceless! :)

I agree with that as long as no major break downs!:drink:

SmurfOnABoat 09-20-2009 09:44 PM

Im no where near some of you guys, but we boat at minimum every weekend (sat and sun) but here is my expenses:

-$500 fuel for the boat every weekend (20 weekends) = $10,000
-$50 in diesel towing to the lake twice a weekend = $1,000
-$24 annual dnr launch pass
-$50 raw water pump (annually)
-$50ea Oil change (3x a season)
-$30 in fuel filters
-$350 to new bearings/races, bearing buddies, brakes, wheel cylinder and master for the trailer
-$50 sunblock
-$1,000 lunch/dinner on the water

I am sure there is more, but thats about it for this season.

I would have more in alcohol costs, but I do not drink and boat, I prefer to drink on land....

Mastercraft240 09-20-2009 10:16 PM

hmmmm, minus cost the purchase of the boat this season.... new interior $2800 , maintance $2000 , removing procharger and other fixes $5000 , new prop $500 , new tires and bearings $400, gas $1500 , complete rebuild engine rebuild and drive check $8000, winter storage around $2000.... I'm $22,500 in the hole

aTX427 09-20-2009 10:29 PM

Typically, the cost of the boat is the least expensive part of ownership, but my 42L / 700sci / #6 setup is a increadibly trouble free. I probably spent $1,500 in preventative maintenance items, plus the typical dockage, fuel, poker run fees, hotels, etc.

The typical boating acronym applies B.O.A.T. (Bring On Another Ten-thousand).

Nice interior! Love the semi buckets. Carpet always looks better than plain white non-skid doesnt it? I run mine for lake duty, but yank in to avoid getting pelican/Gull crap all over the docks in California.

Wildgrafx- Ive got amsoil octane booster. Not sure where it lies on the good/bad scale, but its probably one of the better ones.

Im going to move this stuff from the "ice chests" and put it in one of these storage bins mounted beside the engine.
