FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- About 100 Mercury Marine managers are suing its parent company over unpaid bonuses.
The managers want $7 million in promised bonuses, plus punitive damages for a total of $10.5 million.
The lawsuit says top Mercury executives set up a cost-savings plan in April 2008 that promised managers 10 percent of whatever savings were achieved. As a result of cost reductions, the managers were due $7 million. But, in December the company decided not to pay the bonuses.
An affidavit seeking to move the case to federal court in Green Bay says about 70 percent of the managers live in Wisconsin.
Mercury Marine released a statement Thursday saying that due to very weak market conditions, no bonuses were paid by parent company Brunswick in 2009.
Maybe those jobs will go to OK after all........

If these managers "managed" the company correctly, the $70,000,000 in cost savings could have saved the company if they had done it before this. They should be fired for being ****ty managers.

This usually comes down to wether or not their are signed yearly comp plans on file stating this payout based on this metric-
Companies F you these days by building an unobtainable Objective into your comp plan totaling 10-50% of your yearly commissionable income.
If you "make it" then they find innumerable (assumed ways not stated but inferred by specific illustrations an assumption not explicitly called in the comp plan) not to pay you.
This one cuts both ways curious to see the outcome. But the Merc boys are actually a pretty clever bunch despite the stuff we all dont like, and Id guess if they are committing money they have some writing and some math to show for it.
