37 outerlimits stilletto

37 outerlimits stilletto
850's
how fast??

Smitty 09-24-2009 05:26 PM

110 or higher if it is dialed in correctly

kief 09-24-2009 05:58 PM

a 1995 stileto with 850's and #5's
offshore would do 110??

Smitty 09-24-2009 06:11 PM

I thought you meant a newer one. Does it have a stepped bottom??

OL40SVX 09-24-2009 06:16 PM

They all have steps!

kief 09-24-2009 06:19 PM

yea one step
im not exactly sure that its a 1995 model but its somewhere around there

thunderusone 09-24-2009 07:53 PM

Should be an honest 100mph on the lake in the heat with 1 /2 to 3/4 fuel and people on the boat.

Smitty 09-24-2009 08:56 PM

I am basing my number on a guy that runs near me with a 42 Legacy with Merc 850's . I have seen his GPS speedo at 114.

So I figured less boat and same power should be able to do 110 if dialed in right.

kief 09-24-2009 09:29 PM

makes sense

That 42 is prob an expoxy boat where as the 37 is not.

thunderusone 09-25-2009 12:42 AM

42 legacy and 37 stil are TOTALLY different boats. Different construction, different steps, different weight..completely different design. I own a 37 so my comments are not based on what my best guess is.

obnoxus 09-25-2009 07:25 AM

There is a local 37 with 502's and prochargers that flirts with 100.

Im gonna have to say based on that it would be north of 110

Enough 4 Play 09-25-2009 07:58 AM

What drives are on the boat.

tgersx 09-25-2009 08:26 AM

mine does 102-105mph on at 5800rpm running 30x17.5 5 blades.
1998 37 singles step, 850sc and #5's

BrettM 09-25-2009 08:26 AM

The 2008 41 Super Leggera at LCM had staggered 700's and it ran 110.8 on the smartcraft. I was told the 41 has a similar bottom as the 37, just updated. I would think the 105-110mph range should be right on.

Is my info on the bottoms correct?

Your info is not correct. The 41 Super Leggera is a bottom that was developed a couple of years ago for the SV40 Race boats. It is not even close to the 37 bottom. Also the 41 weighs significantly less than the 37 did. That being said, the 37 were a great running boat. The 37 With 850's will flirt with 15 - 110 depending on prop or gear ratio.

tgersx 09-25-2009 08:33 AM

The super leggera has five steps, unless its an updated quad step 37, most 37's are single steps... From what I know its a brand new design

BrettM 09-25-2009 08:51 AM

How does the 41 ride in rough water. We looked at one at LCM Tuesday and just could not find any solid info on the hull. We measured the runing surface and it was 37ft, 41 with the bussle, so the info I heard that the bottoms were similiar made sense. I guess thats why im asking, thanks for the correct info!

Gary has owned 2 37's so I would think his opinion would be right on! I would say north of 100 but not by awhole lot

The 41 runs strong in rough water. Essentially the SL 41 is a stand up version of the SV40 Race boat. That bottom was tested in P1 racing in seas ranging from 2-3 ft chop to the race in Malta where the seas were 16'-20' +.

In answer to your question the 41 runs amazing. Its one of the most level running vee bottoms I've been in no matter if it was big cruiser wakes or 4's in the Atlantic, the boat fly's very level. We ran it down in miami and was very impressed with the ride and handling of the boat. I still cant believe more people havnt bought these boats yet. We were running 80+ in (real) 4+ft down in Miami and the boat was hooked up great and never missed a beat. I would highly reconmend the 41 if your looking at getting one. You will not be disappointed! If you get a chance to go for a ride there's no looking back!:D:D

BrettM 09-25-2009 10:12 AM

Sounds like we should have drove the 41. A freind of mine and I drove to LCM for him to buy a 42, the deal went south. He looked hard at the 41, I just had no real info on it. LCM said it drove like a much bigger boat and was great in rough water. Thanks for the info. It seemed the 42 had a little more room in the cockpit. I could stretch my legs out in the rear bench and could barely touch the bolsters. The 41 I could touch, but there is ample room. The bussle on the back is very sleek and the sun pad is big enough to enjoy.

This is one of the finest examples (next to Thundersone's) out there of a clean 37 OL with 6's..

I'd listen to these guys. Low 100's.

My friends OL single-step runs 103 mph with 850's on Bravo's.

and there you have it,,, add a few MPH if its a Bravo boat

dkwestern 09-25-2009 03:12 PM

What did the vinylester 42's (2000-2001) run with 900's? 110mph?

Didn't realize the 42 was faster than 37 with same layup and power.

Also 575's run low 90's, 850's only add 10 mph, guess the 37 hull becomes maxed out.

What year was that race and do you have the like that video in Malta? I love watching rough water racing.

Back in 1999, I purchased a 1998 37 OuterLimits, single step, side by side bravo boat, T/HP500. It was hull number 24. After one season in the low 80s, I had put about 840hp per side, Stage 3, M-3, centrifugal supercharged, intercooled, 1.36 gears, and the best ever was 114mph on GPS.
I remember the SC 900, SSM#6DS boats were running 118 or so, and they could barely shake me.

The boat tracked straight, and was a wave crusher.

That is nice looking boat with a great power package.

If I remember correctly there was a Barnegat Bay radar shoot-out on a hot humid day, flat water, and 37' Outerlimits with the MerCruiser 900 SC package radared at 109 mph on a tough radar gun. I understood from the guys at Trenton Marine said afterwards it was a true 114 mph with that package out in the Ocean on most occasions (that I heard directly from the Trenton sales rep.) My $.02

Griff 09-26-2009 12:26 AM

The 37 Stiletto "Wild Card" that was at LOTO ran around 110mph and had around 800hp per side.

I would scratch that off my list of boats to buy. I do not think the BMAX is going to give you the reliability that you are looking for in the 37. The 37 is a big deep v hull that likes rough water. The faster you run the better it likes it in the rough. Bravos or a BMAX do not like that kind of treatment for very long with 850 HP. I have owned 37s with Bravos and 6s. The drive problems dissappeared with the 6s. Not to mention the boat was a blast to drive with 1100 Quads on 6s.

kief 09-27-2009 08:52 AM

the boat was bought around 2002 give or take and was upgraded to 850's and other modifications...it runs great in the rough...i just wanted to know what the top speed could be because it has run about 85 (give or take) already

How fast was your 37' with 1100 HP per side and #6's?
