Just got back from snowmobiling with Donzimitch and Rambunctious!!!
What an absolute riot!!!! Mitch has a cabin in Grand Morais, a very nice place. Mitch had to catch a plane when we got back so he will probably never see this thread, but I wanted to say thanks for the hospitality and the use of your sled. I had a blast!!!!
They still have several FEET of snow up there, and the riding was awsome!! I might have to get one of those things next year!!! Pictures to follow when I get them. |
Sledding rules!! I've done all the fun motorized things I can think of and sledding is still one of my favorites, for adreniline rush, and fun factor over most anything else! I just got some more parts to put mine back together, and I'll have to join you guys next winter some time. Glad to hear you had a good time, I know you're hooked on it now, it only takes that first ride to get you wanting one!!
|
Mike you think boating is addictive.... just start the snowmobiling thing, I gave it up or I would have ended up dead. if you want to see some cool pictures my buddy has a cool web page with lots of pictures from the U.P weekendpictures.net
Don |
sounds like we need to plan an OSO sleding gathering next year:D
|
Sledding is such a blast. I went with Biggus last year a couple of times and it was SO much fun.
Jon |
Thats on of the few things I haven't done.......next winter I'm getting on one no matter what......someones gonna have to extend some hospitality to some of us southerners on the great winter sports some of you do get to enjoy.....
that has got to be a blast!!!!!!!!! |
I've got a video of Waterfoul's first sled ride, but it's too big to attach here. Anyone have any webspace where you could host it? Let me know, I'll e-mail it to you...

SLEDHEADS
I just layed up my sleds, the conclusion of my 31st year of sleddin.Other than boating, where can you run as fast as possible with no stop signs and no speed limits?:D The "HANG THE F ON" acceleration factor just can't be beat.Besides, what else can a true motor head do all winter up here:D If you have never tried it,you owe it to yourself to head north one winter and ride.
|
I agree! Snowmobiling RULES! Unfortunately here in the North East winter was virtually non-existant. Even those of us willing to drive hours had a hard time finding excellent conditions. WAY WAY WAY up in Quebec the riding is still good but way to far. Looking forward to riding with many of you next winter!
|
Nasty Habit, Your more than welcome to come up here anytime! I'm sure we'll be able to find a sled for you to use
|
After driving to Chicago, then back to holland, (6 hrs on the road) pickup waterfoul and driving 6 more hours to Mitches cabin, got a speeding ticket 1/2 hour from the cottage, finally trashed my hyfax on the mud road we had to traverse, sheared a suspension bolt almost driving the coilover shock tower into the track.... and carbides are toast...........but...........
WHAT A RIOT, THANKS MITCH, where else could someone have that much fun!! 191 miles of it in one day of riding, and getting a sun tan taking a break in a field for 20 minutes:cool: cabin is great, love the 2 stall heated sled garage with drains and washdown. can't wait for the pictures Mike, to see the in car camera (ie. in sled) proof of me joining the 100mph club:D that was cold throttling with my left hand, with no gloves and taking a pic with my right hand at 102mph at 8200rpm. sure hope it turns out!! and the proof that Mitch sledded and boated in the same day, in the same hour!!:D mike , how's the body feeling. did you get all the ice out of your teeth from my roost:p |
Sounds like you guys had a blast! Sledding is the only way I was ever able to make it into the 100mph club:D :D :D
|
Thanks Mike and Rob. You and any one else is welcome anytime. What a weekend to end it. Sun all day, trails just groomed on Fri. and no one was there. That watercross was a riot. Really cleaned out the tunnel. A few bare spots we could have avoided but otherwise the trails were awsome. I raced a disgused 880 Genisis powered AC and beat him with my 1000 ACat. Next year we have to plan an OSO get together on me!!:D Now it is time for the boat. So sad to say goodbye to the sled. Ended up with 1800 miles this year. Not the best but good enough. We need to get MIke some more CC's He rode great and was plenty fast. A real natural.

I'm glad to hear that you guys had a great time with no mishaps (except for Rambuctious's sled) .
Mike , snowmobiling is an addiction ! If it wasn't for women in bikini's I would definitly prefer snowmobiling over boating. Were else can you keep the adrenalin rush going for the entire day ! You can't do that boating unless your racing ( that's only for an hour) and I'm just a mere mortal and can't afford that. I really wanted to go but I'm kind of glad I stayed , I got quite a bit done on the boat . Next year we DEFINITLY have to have an OSO get together either at my cabin or Mitch's. |
I would think they should still have snow they only got about 270".:D I have lived up here my whole life never owned a sled I will get one sooner or later but there are too many crazy sleeders that come up from WI and chicago. We had 15deaths this year related to sleds. On a postive note they just had the Local hill climb for sleds, and a friend of ours took 2nd. In one race She beat her brother&fiance. She was very close to winning just feel a little short, I guess she is going to race on Espn next year.
|
Yeh, 26scarab. We will do at either place so plan on it now. Just mark off Dec, Jan, Feb, & March:D :D
|
Mitch ,
Yeah , just pray for snow those months ! otherwise we can start riding in March and April., like this year. |
Mitch, don't thank me....Thank You!!
Here's Waterfoul with his offshore only hat on (left, in the darkman glasses) |
across the dunes in the background is Lake Superior
|
Thanks Playn.. gonna take you up on that next winter.....am sure I'll hurt myself.... but that wouldn't be a first ..
|
OSO Snowmobiling trip to YELLOWSTONE?????
Loved it when I was there in 2000 Easiest way to cure the need for speed is on a sled 1800 miles this winter, not in MN :( hardly any snow here this year |
YELLOWSTONE
Thought "they" did away with sleds in the Park???
It was a great place to air it out, although some areas had speed limits.:) :) :) :) :) :) :) Count me in! |
Dang....I made sure I wore my OSO hat in every picture. Too bad you can't read it!!! What a riot!!! And I'm still sore.
|
Waterfoul, The pain only lasts until the next day. When you hop back on the sled it just kinda goes away..:D :D
|
Kinda like bashin the bumps in Utah on a double black diamond on day three Playn. after the first three moguls, it just keeps getting better
pics mike, pics... where are they. lookin for my email. Can't wait to see my 100mph club proof!!! |
