I believe there is a escape hatch on the floor of this boat..no need to swim down to exit....swim up ....?!?!?!
Can someone tell me why is this guy is allowed to wear this floatation PFD inside an enclosed cockpit? In the event of a rollover and if the boat were to remain upside down, he could be pinned to the floor which could prevent him from swimming down to the hatch to get out thus potentially drowning him… This is a BIG TIME no no in enclosed canopy race boats… The idea behind an “airvest” is that they have very little floatation until you inflate them once outside of the canopy. Have you ever put on a PFD and tried to swim down to the bottom of a pool??? Try it sometime…

What happens when you swin or end up under the dash and get pinned? Bottom line, you NEVER should be wearing a PFD that has floatation in it in a canopy boat... period...

Well in this boat (Powerboat Mag had an insert in their mag..full pictures) no under dash to get pinned in. Must be a reason for the jacket....additionally isn't this a water-tight canopy for the most part? wouldn't the air floatation device have the same problems in a wet canopy environment? Don't they automatically inflate if they get wet?
Aqua - why do you wear a life jacket????

Secondly, no. AirVest that are used in racing or canopy boats should NEVER EVER have a auto-inflator.
Byt the way, there is nothing you can tell me about this setup to convince me that they should be wearing those PFD vest...
Thanks, Ben
