Jacksonville Poker Run: Way Fast Water
Had a great chat with Bill Pyburn, Sr., on what has made the Jacksonville Poker Run such a strong draw for the fastest boats around, http://www.boats.com/boat-content/20...99s-the-water/.
This run, which I haven't covered or attended (but I absolutely will next year), is by most accounts incredible. And they're doing something a little different this year for the Friday lunch run—they're having a barbecue/party on a sandbar in the middle of the river. That ought to be major fun.

Mr. Pyburn told me that his local club has a barbecue on that sandbar every summer and they've have up to 160 boats there beached bow-to in waist-deep water. For the Friday lunch run, he said they'll have poker run staff on hand to help participants bring in their boats.
