Boats and Horses

How many boaters have experience with or own reining or cow horses ?

endeavor1 10-05-2009 12:20 PM

+1 I rope calves, spin steers, and dog steers. Spent a lot of time with some great ropers helping train and break horses when i was younger and in college.

I own a dozen quarter horses, the whole family rides and shows. What's up?

Wife and I have experience with them, but currently don't own any. You have a great product tho.

We're involved with and show in the The American Quarter Horse Association, which runs the events and classes for points not cash. So there almost no cattle classes up here.

I've had them most of my life (currently 10 QH's). Wish I wasn't born with the "gene".......I'd be running a MTI or OL now......hate to think what I've spent over the years in feed, shoeing, worming, tack, trucks, trailers, etc...

What circut did you run. I ran the Great Lakes Circut from 2002-2005

thedonz 10-05-2009 05:14 PM

I have a QH horse and 2 Off track Thoroughbreds. I did reining as a kid. I compete in Hunter/Jumpers as well as Extreme Cowboy Challange now. i think of all the $$$ I have spent on my horses over the years, I could have bought a MTI too!

Sox's wife and kids did some horsie stuff over the years. Not sure if they're still into in now. (He's looking for a bigger boat...) :coolcowboy:

Yup, family is still involved but mostly in "English" disciplines. Sold all of our horses now Karen and the boys ride other peoples horses. (its a lot cheaper that way :drink: )

Joey (9) is doing real well, Robby (15) took 4th overall at the USPC Championships in Tetrathlon (shooting, swimming, running,&show jumping). Unfortunate the horse he rode is now not doing well so he has found a new ride. Karen teaches on Sundays.

Showed Cutters for years at the aged events. Still involved but am enjoying performance boating more. We talk about fuel prices in boating how about a $2500 entry fee for 2 1/2 minute run and $1200 a month training bill per horse !

My family have been raising Quarter Horse Race horses for 30 plus years, we have around 25 now, mostly just foal out and sell the babies, but send a couple to the tracks each year.
