Underwater Lights.

Since I have started a quest to find a set for my 47' Post I guess you could say that I've seen them all. We ended up going with the "Shadow Caster" line. Simply put, the brightest UW lights on the market... almost 3000 lumens. We installed 3 of the bimini blue lights and they are awesome. We were docked next to "Trader Hill," a 88' Hatteras out of Panama City with a set of $ 2400 Ocean LED's and we were BY FAR brighter and saturated the water better.

They are flat mount with a rear mount wire in the center. They are wired for a strobe option although the company that makes them hasnt released the strobe controller yet... but when they do, all you will have to do is hook up the extra wires.

They get $ 679 each.

Food for thought.

The website for Blue Outfitters is blueoutfitters.com

Ocean LED Lights are very bright, we were parked next to boats (a few times) and our Ocean LED lights were much brighter than our neighbors.

I don't want to step on any toes and break any rules but a good friend of mine is a the mechanical design guy associated with Shadowcasters and the engineering is top notch.

Thanks guys. I just purchased 2 of the Shadow Casters in blue from Blue Outfitters and because I'm an OSO member they gave me free shipping.

Thanks Guys

Ron

I like the Baylight LED - 450 lumens and does not require a regulator box. You can find them for around $280 ea.

I boat in Chesapeake bay and the water here is brackish. Not sure how it would look, anyone around here or same kinda water with them?

Did Ocean LED's myself as well.

These shadowcasters seem nice as well.

In Tallahassee Florida. Transom mount/ require a 1/2" hole for the wire.

I have it listed on Ebay.

I only have one but if you search ebay for another... there are a few. Mine is the cheapest... free shipping. I bought 10 for my 47' Post and ended up using 9(3 pods of 3).

I just checked back to this thread and I am glad I did. That is a way better deal. I especially like the fact that they are self contained, so you do not need to mount regulators inside the bilge. Do you have any details on the strobe?

Carguy08 01-10-2010 08:03 AM

Whats the cost of doing this? Is there anyone in the Northeast that would do the install?

go to the ocean LED site. I think the A6's are 4-500 each. Get two of them. Installation is basic if you have any sort of mehanical skill what-so-ever. Drill the hole, fill it with sealer, run the wire through, run the power to your battery and a wire to an extra switch in the dash. Or to make it even easier, put the switch just inside the engine hatch.

What sealer did you use?

Weeeeeeell, I didn't do the install. :drink: but I saw them (teauge) using a clear marine sealant. The hole for the wire is only about a 1/4" so it's not too invasive.

mikes280 01-10-2010 09:41 PM

3m 5200?

Thats what i was thinking but probably need to be sure before you drill some holes below the water line!!

jonyb 01-14-2010 06:43 AM

3M 5200.... That's what the swim platform on my Baja was mounted with (along with bolts), but when teh bolts were out, it still just about didnt' come off.

My shop is picking up the Shadow-Casters. Should be available in a few weeks.

aTX427 01-14-2010 08:10 AM

The install instructions for the Shadow Casters specifically states to use regular silcone and NOT to use 5200.

jonyb 01-14-2010 09:28 AM

Meant to say 4200. I don't trust normal silicone to seal up an underwater hole.
