Value of merc 700's sci
 

Looking to sell my merc 700's sci out of my 42 fountain with 100 hrs. Any idea what their are worth?

do you have receipts of the service intervals.. that will help in the sale. Also if you take a pic of the Smart craft showing the different intervals at different rpms the motors have been through will also help. Just my observation. I might know somebody if the price is right.

Running 103mph at 4000 elevation which is good, but think I'm ready for more juice under the hatch. Got that itch to break into the 120mph.

Dam! are you going to try to use the NXT (clutch) transmission

We heard that was the weekest link in the set up with the 700 NXT package

What kind of power you think it will take to reach your goal?:boat:

Off topic, but what will it take to do that in your rig at your altitude, 1500's or so ?

Looking into 1000's and keping my nxt tranny or 1200's and upgrading trannny but might have to change nxt gimbal too. Waiting for my experts to give me my options.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but how do you think the 42' compares to the 388 as far as the ride goes?

Would you be willing to sell the whole package and start fresh - boat, motors, drives, all.

The 388 hustler statrts to chime walk around 96 on up. Were the fountain is smooth as glass at the 105 mark just begging for more power. But don't get me wrong my 388 was alot of fun just not made to go over 100mph.

I know of a set with 30 hrs motors and trannies.. for 60k if that helps you.. let me know your price..

Already have the whipple upgrade, works great gained about 4 to 5 mph. Thanks for the input.

It will gernade the first day you use it and NXT trans cost more than Hubers. Take the time to put regular trans in boat and don't use the NXT. The gimbal is also not rated for that HP.

Sounds like you have been there and done that

There are people on OSO saying NXT rated at around 1000 hp

I know you race a lot of boats and use all the good stuff, but with that being said we are poker run pleasure craft people that can only step up once every 3 to 5 years

With the rite driver and no airing the props out the NXT should handler around 800 to 900 HP, and I have talked to several people who have done that

Ran with 2 boats in the Jammin on the James poker run. One 42 with boosted 700's and a 38 with boosted 700's. The 42 lost a motor, the 38 lost a transmission. Dont know the particulars on either just heard it happend. I like my 38/700 boat just fine stock. If you want to go faster, a better route would be to sell you boat, and go with a cat. You can run modest reliable power, and run easily in the 120-130's. Dont get be wrong. I love my V, but with 1400 hp it runs 114 mph. My sons 28 Skater with 600 hp runs, 115 mph, with O/B motors with 350 hrs on them. Just a thought, good luck.

Thanks for the input. Is the hubber 1350 the trans that will match up to my gimbal? I know that gimbal is not rated for that much hp but like gnorthga said it is only for rec. use not racing just want that extra zip every now and then. Got any 42 in stock or now were one is with bigger power?

As others mentioned, keep what you have or trade up. All you are going to do is hack that boat up, spend a ton money and waste a lot of time. Trust me - been there and done that. Build or buy something that meets your needs.

If you want to stick with Fountain, there is a sick 42PR with 1,200's in the for sale section. It looks really clean and I am sure it will get the job done - and then some.
