502

Did the 502 ever come stock in any vehicle?

JasonSmith 10-09-2009 10:43 AM

Nope. Factory produced anyway.

Philster 10-09-2009 11:07 AM

A boat is a vehicle, and 502's were stock in many (such as the 1996 Scarab 26 I own).

Griff 10-09-2009 01:34 PM

I do not believe so. Muscle cars from the 60's and 70's had 454's as the biggest and the newer 8.1/496's were in trucks for a while.

KajunATVer 10-09-2009 02:20 PM

Years ago I saw a 197? cadillac with 8.2 Liter on the front quarter panel. Not sure it was factory though.

Pure Energy 10-09-2009 02:43 PM

My friend in high school had a cadillac, back in 1984. I don't know what yr the car was, he got it from his aunt. It had a 502and was front wheel drive.

JasonSmith 10-09-2009 02:49 PM

The Caddy motors were 500" not 502". Think architecture similar to the Olds/Buick 455 vs. the Chevrolet 454.

fountainracing65 10-09-2009 02:52 PM

You are correct. Caddy was a 500 not a 502. TURD's for motors. Not sure how they came up with the 500

Ryan8886 10-09-2009 02:54 PM

you mean other than the trucks? I know they came in the 2500 pickups.

You are wrong. They were never installed from the factory in any on road vehicle.

You're thinking of the 8.1 L ( 496) gen VII big block.

The 502 ( gen IV-VI) has never been offered in
a new land production vehicle

They use to put a 366 and 427 tall decks in the big trucks,
school buses etc.

The SS pickups were 454's

The truck you refer to is the 454SS. Produced from 1990-1993.
All 3 years had the TBI 454 motor. All were 2 wheel drive.

SmurfOnABoat 10-09-2009 09:53 PM

502 motor was ONLY a crate motor from GM, it was never installed in a production vehicle.

It was put in one offs and prototypes from GM, also Lingenfelter did a run of 4th generation Camaros with all aluminum 502s (shipped as new to lingenfelter then sold, like roush edition ford products) although there were very few of these.
