Great first day back on the H2O
Good first day for tuning. Sunny – 70 degrees and 70% humidity. Flat water – would have liked some chop- and a lack of 30 ft pleasure boats and their nice rollers.
Already over the magic 3.7hrs (the Larry life ) and way over the 13.5 miles.
Reset the idle conditions and set the timing for the magik total of 27degrees.
Indications show we might be able to add 1 deg or so and still be safe.
A new set of power valves – re-jet- and one set of new air bleeds.
Cruised at length values from 2500rpm to 5000rpm. 02’s and egt’s all look good. All values and plug results kept at all critical points- rpm, boost values and cruise points.
Initial tune on 93 octane and gas alone- no additives or Meth- pulled through 5600 rpm and 130 on the gps on the current 35’s with plenty of stick left.
The carb signals indicate that there is plenty left.
Pulled 16 plugs at the end of the day- not one spot of aluminum and the electrodes are still there.
And no these were not blip numbers. As the tune came in the rpm and mph were held for longer and longer times/distances. With some decent distances and times well over the century mark.
We will tweak on the primary/cruise circuits and start to move the secondaries as we move above the current self limited 10lbs of boost and add the meth.
Time for the new props and tweak the tune to match.
It was a good day. It takes some time to do this- 6 hrs from firing it up to pulling it in. Lots of notes, pictures and points to check and recheck. Making sure when something is supposed to happen it happens. It will take another good day when the new props arrive- and a bigger body of water.
The SKATER will be going to one of the larger lakes this weekend and will be able to enjoy my boat for the first weekend in a Looooooong time
