i am not a ford basher, have had excellent luck with them in my fleet, but i know of quite a few people that have had problems with the 6.0 diesel. have not owned one myself so this is not from personal experience but i have 3 friends that have them and 2 have had lots of problems, and they have had bad luck trying to get them resolved

Seller wants way too much for it. My 2006 Dodge dually can be had for $22k. About the only thing on his truck I don't have are the telescoping mirrors and the snowplow pkg(I live in Tx lol).

we have 5 , 6.0;s and 1, 7.3 at our fleet at work, they seem to be holding up pretty we'll. Each has had a oil pan but they are plow trucks. There navistar engines.....same as international.......all trucks have there issues i am partial to GM and Ford. Cummings are great engines its just the rest of the truck. If its what ya want go for it.....it does seem a bit over priced but then again i dont no your location to well...

Get a Dodge.

Sure, the fit and finish in the cab isn't as nice as Ford and GM, but the Cummins is a workhorse.

Just compare horror stories, there are literally tens of thousands with the 6.0L, very (VERY) few with the 5.9 Cummins.

Plus, he is out of his tree with the price. I have an 06 DRW with 32K miles I would let go for $23K even.

how are those new dodge trannys holding up>? I no they switched to a euro>? builder a few years ago...5-6 speed autos>>? Thats where my chrysler fear comes in. Nothing they built themselves seemed to be able to hold that motor. Well autos anyway

Too steep.

A buddy got a 2006 PSD 6.0L XLT (not leather) 4x4 CC LB Dually with 40K miles for the same coin several months ago.

The 2003 and 2004 6.0L PSD are the ones to avoid as they were the transition years that Ford had so many problems with. Later years are pretty solid. Besides, in 2005 they came out with the coil spring front suspension which is a drastically better than anything prior.

If you want to keep the truck for a long time, the 05-07 5.9L Common Rail Cummins is the truck you want. Yes the Cummins auto tranny is suspect above an extra 100hp but all of them are, even the vaunted Allison. Ford has the best tranny but the worst motor.

You can drop a Cummins into a Ford, and many do, but you never hear of people dropping Powestrokes into Dodges. My opinion is an F450/Cummins is a great tow vehicle, but the Dodge 4500 will get that job done too and you don't have to pay extra for the motor swap, plus you get the awesome Aisin 6 speed auto or the G56 6 speed manual.

Whichever way you go, make sure you get more truck than you need. When I went looking for a truck to tow my 5000lb boat, I bought a Dodge 3500. Would a 2500 have done the job? Absolutely, but I wanted the heavier suspension.
