Default Engine/Propshaft Dyno

I'm considering purchasing a propshaft dyno for my shop and was looking for input from anybody who has been to a shop who had one....what did they charge, were you satisfied with the information received, did it get you to make any changes relative to performance?? The dyno I'm considering is made by Land n Sea capable of testing hp up to 1500 with all data acquistion. For timely set up and testing the features I would be selling to test are hp, torque and fuel mixture. I would appreciate your thoughts.

Yeah it is but their standard 800 hp dual rotor absorber brake is capable of 800 hp at 1:1 behind a motor or 1200 hp behind a 1.50:1 outdrive which would be another 50% or even more if you go to a 1.35 outdrive which is a 65% reduction and so on ultimately getting you to the 1500 hp. This is as explained by Land n Sea sales people!

I wonder even with a number six drive when the slip is at zero during a dyno pull with 1500 hp what would break first, someone needs to build hybrid dyno where you pull the drive off and some kind of driven shaft goes into the coupler/output splines directly to the dyno brake,Smitty

I have an early DynoMax dyno. It is a single rotor. I was able to do in a day what took me all season to do horse power wise. It is nice for it's application. SBI used one to check the Factory I & II boat after races. But for big horse power use it as an engine dyno, i e bolt the engine to their stand and mount the brake to the flywheel.

You might ask them, but I'm pretty sure their absorber only fits std bravo drives, not xr nor #6... so the drive is the limiting hp figure

so what happens if the drive breaks during the dyno pull? are you just going to count on a rev limiter that limits rpm by restricting fuel. Does not sound like a good deal to me.
