Need alittle help with some hull repair

I was wondering when replacing stringers and other wood member in the hull if you need to put anything between the wood and the hull where they butt together. The hull in the boat I will be fixing is cored also.

anyone?

It is absolutely best to match these spaces together . . bed the new stringer in a mix of chopped glass and resin paste to create a bond.

If there is any space left, the hull will flex and cause stress cracks in the gelcoat as a minimum. I've seen cracks along stringers in the bilge caused by the same gaps.

I'd also recommend cutting your stringers to match the hull deadrise angle.

Thanks. Should I build some sort of craddle to sit the boat in for repair?

What about using a fiberglass filler?

When I do another project I will use Hull and Deck putty again, a custom blend I got from Mertons. This guy knows his s**t, he is from around boston I believe and is the best to work with. cutting the stringers for the deadrise as well as the profile is the only way to go too.
