What boat??
Hi Guys,
If you had $70k to spend given the following criteria, what would you buy? Sydney Harbour & surrounding waters are on average 4 footers, outer harbour can be up to 8 foot rollers. Sea around Sydney tends to be very choppy. I want something in 37'/38' range. Overnight stay with wife & 2 kids is a must. Plumbed toilet & adequate headroom necessary also. I'm 5'10" wife similar. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance....

Just move up to a 38 Straight V Scarab, they fit in your price range and are very safe in the water your talking aboutg , there are some 38 Fountains for the price but it might be a little small for steady 4+ foot waves , would be good if you can get into 500efi engines , thats why I mention fountains , there are some 2000's out there right now !! good luck and be safe

Buy mine, keep 30K in your pocket. (you know, with the economy the way it is and all)
Heat/AC 4KW Gen/ 6' headroom, vaccuflush head with stand up shower, microwave, cooktop HDTV with antenna, etc.

Its already rock bottom priced at 80k, but I'd find a way to get another 10k to add to your budget.

Thanks Guys for your input. I have always loved the Scarabs, TGs, Midnights et al (being a Vice fan from way back).
However, the Scarabs are no longer built & I guess would be difficult to obtain parts for?? I tried to get a new windshield for my 34 & couldn't find anyone to repro it. The folks at Wellcraft were about as helpful as tits on a bull!!
Anyhow I had my eye on your ad(s) Velocity Tom but have read that Velocities are a bit wild at the top end given their shallower V than the rest.
I would love a Thunder but really could only afford a min 10 yr old boat at best & wonder what sort of a life it had. What do people think of Hustlers? Hey I even saw 38 Stryker for sale here somewhere. Heard they were built off a TG hull. I could have some change to spare out of that one....

Those are all going to be good boats, but not real fast compared to similar boats of the same size. The BT will have a great cabin and handle the rough stuff, but could be hard to find a good one on your budget. The sonic will not have much headroom, but will probably be faster than the Formula or BT.
