Keith Eickert oil thermostats
 

I am thinking about a pair of Keith Eickert oil thermostats.My new boat has blower motors and no water thermostats, and with the water temp. up here as cold as it is right now, the oil and water guages dont even get to 100 degrees.I am afraid of getting on it too hard with the oil as cold as it is.Or does it even matter???
I have been told that oil does not do it`s job until the temp reaches 180-200 degrees.

Can I buy these thermostats for less money than K. E. sell them directly???

Are they worth the $$$$???

I bought one for my boat and I think the idea has valid merit. I have not been able to log enough time to monitor the results of the setup. I know of people that have to run for 30-40 min to get the oil temp up, just so they can run hard. I think you will be happy with the results and if you can get them for a deal, go for it!!

Hey Kurt I talked to a lot of guys and they said they love the things. I get a wopping 20% (basicaly a show special) off so if I can help ya out let me know.

I use them on the 41 to keep the temp. up in the oil as I do not have engine thermostats either. I've been told the same thing about oil temp and lubricity and it keeps the condisation down also. I have the ones with the filter mount and use a HP-6 filter. Every little bit helps as far as I'm concerned.

I have heard and read that 220 is the min oil temp for a perf. built /race engine using mineral based oil......with 260 being the high safe limit....and 285 beign the temp at which mineral based oil will break down...it would also make sense that condensation would not be boiled off until 212 of course there is the pressure/ temp factor which will affect that i suppose....

of course these #s are not based on marine perf engines.... so maybe someone can shed some more light on this...

Mike all my pricing is in Mass and I am currently in Cali, however I will try and remember to look it up when I get back. If I remember correctly it was not to expensive. I think under 200 bucks retail.
