Welcome to the board! There is a wealth of info on here, you might try the Baja board for specific help on the boat you are looking at. If its solid, and mechanically sound it looks like it would make a great first boat!

i think im going to go check it out tomorrow. i will be launching from new rochelle ny, so i will be using it in the LI sound mostly. will this boat be ok in moderate chop? i dont plan on using it when its very rough, but i dont want to buy a boat that can only be used on glass. i currently own a bunch of skis, but have never had a boat before.

Welcome to the board, first thing I would do is have it surveyed by a Marine Surveyor. Then make your best deal if you want it and enjoy it.
Good Luck.
