Default Opinion on a black boat

We're in the process of building a new line of 30 foot flat deck offshore sport boats. The first will be pulled from the mold around mid January. The plan is for the first is to be black. Two reasons for this. First, black will show the quality of the mold work which we take great pride in and want to show it off. Second, we have planned to install a real trick custom peanut butter cockpit interior, we also have a local plating company on board who is ready to start plating all of the cockpit hardware .This will include bezels, shifters, billet switches, raymarine display facia, cup holders, steering hub, steering wheel, pretty much everything.

The boat itself is planned to be all black gelcoat, then, black primer, black ppg and clearcoat from the chine up over the deck to avoid oxidization and in the event of grtting scratched, it wouldn't show much. Keeping the gel bottom for durability off and on the trailer.

Trying to get some feedback from a sales point, how many people really would want to own a black boat. We plan to build a couple more over the next few months which will be white gel.

On a side note, the cost of goldplating on #1 will be a minimal charge on top of the cost of the hardware as this is being done as a semi promotion.

Not for me. My feet are still burning after hopping on the front deck of a dark red Formula to tie it up this summer. It felt like stepping onto a campfire. One would require shoes to get on the deck at all times. I would never buy a black boat.

I had a red boat and had to wear gloves and shoes moving around on the deck. I can't imagine how hot a black boat would be.

Munky Shaffer of the Rock group Korn had Shockwave boats build him a black boat. He had it on the market over three years before it finally sold.

I like the blue and black hullsides but not on the decks or vinyl.

Do black hull sides and transom, but leave the rest white.

I would never own a boat with a black deck. Hull sides are fine, but IMO would show every water spot and minor rub mark.
