Blue,
The last time I checked (2002), it was 9500 lbs with two people and 30-40 gal of fuel. The hook was part, but the balance was also important. Good balance to me is the boat is stable in flat water with no porpoise at WOT with the drives fully trimmed and the tabs neutral.
The biggest deal/improver was the high X with Bravos....60-80%...oh, and the Imco lowers was big at 4 MPH past 90 MPH.
Three bears,
Hook is when the hull turns down at the transom. You can check yours by putting a long straight edge on the bottom (transom forward). Removing the hook may get you some speed, but you might not like the way the boat rides at cruise.

Default Top speed calcs

I ran the calcs on my 2002 38' Fountain, stock 525s (550hp at prop ea.), 7,900 lb (epoxy lay up). With a conservative set up (1 1/2" spacer) run of the mill 6 blades the boat runs 104 mph. With no spacer and quality props it runs 107. The conservative set up almost exactly matches the 275 ratio for the recreational cats. Love him or hate him Reggie through trial and error has designed a very efficent hull. Wonder if the higher numbers are due to the step hull design? Cool thanks for the thread interesting!

You have an 02 38 that runs 104 with stock 525's? How is that when 08 35's run only run those #'s. You have a light lay-up no cabin or somethin? J/c

What are you looking to run? Mine is a 93 with 800ish motors and runs 91. Bmax uppers/IMCO -2 lowers.
Still the best looking motors weve built
