I know Kenny Boyce's old Tiger ran just at 100mph with worked 900's.

The "Mind if I Smoke" Tiger was right up there too with 1000 Zul's.

Which Tiger do you have?

I'CE 12-20-2009 10:08 PM

GLH's ol Tiger did that and then some ! w/1000 Zul's and 6's

i bought this one out of malibu ca. called smoke this, worked 900's ran 94, may needed lil more prop, just wondering if it was possible to run 110 with the additional power, cool boat but a brick....

Voodoo you'll need serious HP to get to 110mph...

I ran Zull 653 ci just like the Kenny's flag graphic boat above that were around 1000HP and the most I have seen is 100 mph.

Great boat here are some Video's and pictures if you care;

Oddly enough both boats were sold to persons in Japan and shipped there.

GLH,

Are you aware if stepped bottom Tigers have handling issues if they have staggered motors?

.

I have not heard of any staggered Tigers to tell you the truth, but I am not that aware of Cig models in the last few years.

GLH 12-21-2009 04:51 PM

I did hear some stuff on the early twin step Tigers but I don't know of any with staggered setup.

The issue I heard essentially in the Twin Steps Tigers in the few years after they started making them was that the steps were so big that the boats tended to lean left or right when running and flip flop from one side to the other. Also backing up was very unpredictable due to the big steps.

What I recall writing this is that they reworked the steps with the 42x that also had a third smaller step in the back and it resolved the problems.

Mind you this is all hearsay I have never ridden in any of those, this is from talking to guys that owned them at Poker Runs and seeing a couple run. Riding in any boat you would be interested in would provide a lot more information than what I have heard.

Hope this helps,

Go Ford!

G.L.

I guess that is what was thinking of. I was just curious. I am not tired of the Gladiator yet. But when I am, I am going cat...like you. :drink:

I had a Ford motor in my boat too. 540/600. IMCO Powerflow headers with an adapter to mate up to the block.

Voodoo, what do you want to know about your boat?? I've been close friends with the last three owners of that boat over the past 10 years and have coutless hours behind the wheel and in the passenger seat of that boat.

The boat originally came with Merc 900's. second owner (Jim Neeley / first owner was from Florida) blew the starboard motor at the havasu poker run in 04. Jim sold the boat to Tim McCray while the boat was at Teague Marine in Valencia. Tim had both motors totally rebuilt to 1000's with new blocks at Teagues.

Tim ran it a while and blew the starboard motor again at Havasu pokder rn in 05. Tim Had Teague go through the motors again. Boat ran 94-96 banging the rev limiters. Boat is/was under propped. We tested some different wheels but couldn't get the right ones (didn't have access to them).

Boat was shipped to Florida (Lip-Ship) in 05 and had all fiberglass reaired (minor stuff), color sanded and buffed. Phil also put all new interior in. Boat looked like a million bucks!

Tim had the boat shipped back out for the Desert Storm Poker Run in 06 and as soon as he got it in the water he blew a crank. he was pretty much done with it at that point and sold it to Justin Silvers, Who had a short time, sold it to the aire of Wrigley (yes, the gum, the baseball field) who owned it for about 6 months and who you bought it from (kind've....Wrigley used Justin as the broker).

I think with the twin 1000's, you should be able to see just over 100 if you're propped right. I've seen GPS speedo pushing 100 in Kenny Boyces Tiger, which was propped right with the Merc 900's. Kenny swears they weren't warmed but I hear otherwise:grinser010:

The drives on your boat are swapped to spin out. You'll pick up a bit of speed with the props turning in but you get more nose lift and a bit more ill tempered at the docks.

Twin 1500s?! I would think you should see 110+ with that power!

I told Tim about this thread...he is a lurker more than a poster...But If you want to talk to him I can give you his cell number. He's had a bunch of boats (including yours) and still has a 38 T/S Gun he keeps at TNT.

I absolutly loved your Tiger. I had some great times in that boat from the West to East coast! It's a monster!

I have a BUNCH of pics of it. Just can't post them since my membership expired!

But here it is running when Jim Neeley had it. Running in the Pacific with "Running with the Devil" and "Speed Racer" (and a notorious member that is no longer around "uncle Toys" in his 28 Daytona). Tiger comes in right around the 1 min mark....This is a great video either way!

Yea, there's a few of those videos on Youtube under "SCOPE cigarette boats". You can also go to WWW.SCOPEINFO.COM , go to the video section and there's all kinds of videos like this one. Nort (universal chaos) is actually the camera man on that one as well as many of the others on there.

I will go from memory here but I think mine was proped with Mercury 4 blades 17" diameter 32" running a 1.5 Gear ratio on Dry sump #6's

I just ran those numbers on Marc's prop slip calculator ( http://www.go-fast.com/Prop_Slip_Calculator.htm )and the numbers work, with a prop slip of 15 % gets us around 100 at 5800-5900 RPM.

If I get a second I will dig through my posts I am sure we had a discussion about this at one time or another with Kenny and another owner of this green tiger either in the Cigarette Forum or here in GD.

GL, the pic of the interior was right after Phil finished it (you can still see the protective paper on the new windscreen). We were running it down to Key West for the weekend. The pic of it aired out is the Long Beach Poker run in 04. I couldn't hear for two days out of my left ear after that. The pic of the rooster was testing props in Havasu and the pic of the boat idling is in the Channel Islands Harbor right before an island run. I have some more pics of that day. I have to pay my fee though.:drink:
